I didnt wanted to post this incident in open forums but the way PSO did this is so unprofessional. When someone is ready to do corrections for you free of cost then why don't you let the vendor do it- even after saying to proof read everything.

We have been told to provide fast turnarounds and we did our best. Even if there were errors, we were ready to correct anything as you can see in my emails. How much sincerity and flexibility you still think I should have shown in this business deal?

Hopefully akhil_jks in the future you'll do something to protect yourself from this. An idea might be to do something like have clients fax a contract that says they have 7 days to review work and send payment for each batch of work sent. This way your getting confirmation the work is satisfactory and payment for it much sooner.

After reading this whole thread I see plenty of reason for both sides to feel they were screwed. I think PSO has more share of blame though in how this transaction went bad because like I already mentioned I don't know how a company spends this much on translations without having a native speaker of that language assigned to monitor work as it comes through. If there is a problem with the work stop it right away.

Hope you guys get this straightened out though in some way or another. I'm sure neither will make the same mistake again, to bad it was such a big one that got posted on a public forum where people might chose sides.

Dear Pokerprop,

Thanks for your comments. As you might have seen the emails I have posted recently in this thread, you might have noticed how much sincerity and flexibility I put in this business relation. Please tell me one thing- if I was ready to do all the corrections as pso requested, when I emailed them again n again to send me the docs to proof read then why didnt they sent even a single document?

It wont affect me or Mike if someone takes his or my side. I just want all of you to see who is guilty. When I was ready to provide them what they demanded, why didnt they bothered to send me any doc to be corrected?

I do business based on trust and faith, I never impose "hard" terms and conditions over my clients and thats why all my clients feel comfortable when they work with me and thats why I have so many clients in this industry who send work so frequently. This is the first time in our 5 years in this business that someone screwed me like that.

I have a headache.

Both sides are at fault, both sides have screwed this up.

Whether PPP is right about $.08 being too cheap or not isn't the point. The point is that PSO was promised quality work that they could throw onto their site. The translator promised quality work, that's what PSO should be paying for. If they get sub-par work which is below the standards agreed to, they shouldn't have to pay for it. PSO also bears responsibility for not checking the work immediately after receiving it. If you hire a guy to landscape your yard, plant 5 trees and follow a design plan, don't you go out and check the work before paying for it? Of course you should, and PSO should've done the same. With that said, if there are only 3 trees planted, do you pay for 5? Hell no, but if PSO was in such a rush to get the project done they should have taken the proper steps to ensure their goals were met. PSO should have had people in place to check the quality of the work from day one. From that point, everything snowballed into this mess where IMO they both 'F'ed up.

The bottom line is that PSO didn't receive what they ordered, and they shouldn't have to pay for work that was done below the agreed standards. The fact that they've paid for the vast majority of the work proves to me that they aren't trying to screw the translator. They didn't get the agreed quality, why should they pay the agreed price? Whatever that price was isn't the point. The translator agreed to a price and to a quality standard on his own free will. If he falls short of those promises, he gets paid short as well.

Just my opinion,

TheDonk

Hi "TheDonk",

I think you should read the emails again. It's not 1-2 times but many times I asked them to send me the docs and I'll get them proof read. But if a company still doesnt send any doc to be corrected(even after telling us in hard words that do the corrections) then who is to be blamed for this? And then how can you deduct 15k$ from someone's invoice?

Can you please answer me ?

Should I have to send my Big Mac back 4 times until they get it right? Doing something half ass, then waiting for a punch list is poor business practice. The fact that you're willing to fix the work is fine, but the fact that you sent them poor work to begin with isn't. If your company offers quality translation services, that's what you should provide. Regardless of how PSO screwed up on their end, any reputable business should always aim to do the job right the first time. It is the business owners responsibility to ensure that the work his employee's produce is completed to agreed standards before it's given to the customer. I don't believe you did enough to make sure the work was ready to go online, in fact you've admitted that the Russian translations weren't done as well as they should have been. In truth, PSO should have had people ready to check your work - BUT, what they should have found was that the work was done properly the first time and in a timely manner.

As far as how much less should you be payed, that's not something anyone here can help you with. You think a fair figure is -$4,000. PSO thinks a fair figure is -$15,000. That's something you guys need to work out on your own, but the fact is you didn't provide what you promised.

Please understand, this is just my opinion - it doesn't mean I'm right. I can understand why people are on your side as well, this is just the way I personally feel.

Actually all it does is confuse the issue since it isn't relevant.

PSO didn't allow the translator to correct the work (that PSO claimed was inadequate), despite multiple offers to do so. Thus they have no leg to stand on.

There are PLENTY of other "this is not how to do business" lessons here on both sides, but the basic issue is straightforward. You simply have to pay for what you have contracted for, and certainly don't deduct a 'do it yourself' to fix what the contractor is offering to fix.

The only way to look at this is as if we are talking about an article on pre-flop strategy. If the author turns in some looney strategy, you still have to pay what you agreed, but you don't use him anymore.

I still want to say that the work was really not that bad quality as he reported. One of the members(sun poker) is also the client we have worked for, I can send you the references(dear sunpoker representative, please contact Abi to know about me).

Yes, I still admit that there were errors in starting russian files. But did this makes any sense that pso guys tell me to do the proof reading and then they dont send any doc to be corrected? You still havent answered this brother. You may ask any of my clients, if they face problems with any translation, they send it over to me and I get it corrected as they say.

"any reputable business should always aim to do the job right the first time".....do you also think our other clients are so innocent that they compromise with poor quality? If this was the case, our services havent been used again and again by our clients.

And can you answer this: Why PSO guys didnt told me even one time that they are not satisfied with quality and they will deduct money from my invoice(when they reported me or errors and told me to do the proofreading)? And why they had done it when I agreed to do the proof reading?...do you have any answer?
