Revenue Compared to Expenses in One Month?
I was just calculating my net revenue (Revenue - Expenses: Net Revenue) for the month and it looks like my expenses (links, writing and design for sites) was about half of my revenue. Seems high for me...but I did spend a lot more then usual.
How does it breakdown for you?

For me also....... this is the highest month in expenses yet......... I had to pay mostly my site developer and a programmer, also a few articles....... so my revenue decrease drasticly this month.

I don't know why, I usually attribute it to conferences that remind us 'content is king' but I will share with you all that September - February, those are the months I get the biggest and most frequent content orders and seem to be continually chasing my tail.
Not to bad a deal as a mom buying Christmas, but I'm guessing you're not alone when it comes to increased expenses this month

We're lucky. My partner does all of our designs, and I do all the programming / content creation on our sites. Basically our only expense is our web hosting, which is something like $25 a month.

It actually brings up a larger issue of how being competent in certain things allows you to do work personally rather than outsourcing many things. For example, Poker King (I think) writes his content. If he paid somebody to yak about every poker topic under the sun, his expenses would be more than a hundred times higher just from that.

Very true. I could have saved a lot if I knew how to design and program...
There also comes a point when letting go of the reigns is much more beneficial to you and your business. If you have a few sites and you're trying to create content as well as build links and develop the site, you're going to be overworked and you're going to hit a wall at some point with too many projects and not enough time.
Outsourcing is a great way to get things done cheaper, faster and to free up your life. Even better if you can bring the outsourcers on your payroll and have them work exclusively for you....

I guess that makes me the lucky one. I actually do everything by myself. (programming, design, seo, etc.)
The only thing I have outsourced are a couple of articles, and the Italian and German translations, but they were cheap since I had them done by my dad (free) and a buddy in Austria who didn't want to be charged anymore than 3ct per word.
 Cheers,
Giorgio
