Default Realistic goals

In this over-saturated age, with 3/4 of the sites being links, bad copy and ads, what is a realistic expectation of success.

You read more and more about "you will work your ass off and get nothing for months until Google/etc pick you up." so what should expectations be?

Say it is a "$100-$200 site" we keep bantering back and forth here. Is you spend that, and work "hard" what should you expect after a month? After 3? After 6?

Or is it 6 months is pretty much your learning time and you shouldn't expect anything for income past a $20 crumb?

What is a "good year" for a start up?

I personally think right now is the best time to get into poker affiliate marketing. With everything changing every day it lets up for so much opportunity. Be quick on your feet and follow the market and now is the time to make it. A good beginning year can be breaking even or $1million +.

Hoursurfing couldn't have said it better. There are so many changes going on this market, and there are going to be even more changes in the next 12 months.

There are just too many variables to say what a good year means. Regardless, there is still a boat load of money to be made in the poker affiliate market.

Humor the Newb... what do you mean "follow the market" Maybe I am not getting the day-to-day concept of what it is "we" do in that sense.

And what things are changing, or will?

I think being optimistic is good and you need to have that. Like they said anything can happen but in the same token don't beat yourself up if it doesnt take right away. I think expecting to much to soon can also be a downfall for any new affiliate..I know it was for me.

Everything depends entirely on what you learn, how fast you are at picking it up along with the effort your willing to put into this. There are some here who were making money which to me seems instant, while others like myself it took nine months to finally get it (the many different concepts) There is no set guideline as to what you will make and when....but if it doesnt happen right away dont stress over it.

From the outset I set my goal at $1000/month and I never saw anything like that for a long time due mostly to poor marekting, SEO, my mistakes, low value players on MGR, not correctly defining my niche market, etc.

However about 6 months in I read somehting that made a lot of sense to me (props to whoever wrote it - I can't remember)

"It is far more difficult to earn $1000 a month from one site than it is to earn $100 a month from 10 different sites."

It just rang a lot of bells and I beelive it is true. Obviously we would all liek that one super affiliate site raking in $10000 + a month but the reality for most of us is that it won't happen.

However I beleive it is truly attainable from a portfolio of sites, even for mediocre web-maketers like myself.

....sorry 'bout the spelling - way too busy to worry 'bout it...

I just got my first 3 sign ups today and I have to say I was rather excited to see that. I just launched my "campaign" a day and a half ago and its growing rather rapidly so this gives me proof of concept. Sure 3/50 is low but it beats my expected 0/50.

To follow up on the OP's original question, is there a ballpark that relates no. of signups / earnings. Or put anoher way (and I know this will vary from site to site), what is the average lifetime value of a poker player?
