Identical values on gambling?

Dave, Dave, Dave... Canada has had a huge push NOT to have a culture identical to Americans, which is one reason you *almost* engaged in an anti-American rant, but deleted it. A Yank would have posted an anti-Canadian rant without hesitation - even if he didn't know for sure where it is!
Canadians like to examine the moral and social rectitude of things, and engage in much wringing of wrists about social policy....Americans just want to know about the financial bottom line, and who gets paid off by whom.
Even so, there is no province in Canada that does not have access to Off Track Betting, for example, if they want it....although there are several US states that still ban it. Canadians accept gambling as long as they can salve their consciences because a huge chunk of the government's cut is supposed to go to social causes like charities and health care research.
Like I said in a post elsewhere, I am pretty positive that if money from internet gambling could be chanelled into paying for universal health care, it would be an easy sell to most Americans, as well.
Maybe we need to talk to Hilary Clinton and Barack Obama about this.

Canada, crime, gambling and the church
OMG: This study seems to show a connection between charitable bingo and crime rates! I think we need to shut down all the church bingos, and throw Father Pat and his ilk behind bars. Let's subpoena the Roman Catholic Church and trace their filthy money-laundering activities over the past century.

All I'm saying is that American citizens today, who are opening Canadian bank accounts to try and skirt around American laws are asking for big trouble in the near future.
Online gambling in most circumstances is illegal for American citizens. Get it yet?
Mark my words.
I have nothing more to say on this matter ever again at PAW or anywhere else.

Ya I do remember those days. I should mention that an IBC can register a bank account in the country in which is resides. I haven't read any laws stating that the owner of that IBC has to be a resident of that particular country. And for those of you looking for a "safe" place, just pay attention to the places that the poker rooms and casinos have decided to reside.
I do find it funny how people say that online gambling is illegal in the US, yet have no particular law entry to back up their claim, even in that Fox video that was listed on here. Sports betting is our major problem. I bet there is a chance that somebody could create a third party e-wallet service ONLY for POKER players and end up being successful with it. That type of thing would even get PPA backing it up.

I'm glad things are so black and white.

Again:
Deposit $1K into Canada bank:
You fund 2 Ewallets with a few hundred each.
Then you leave the rest in an account. Every few months you EFT $20 into it to keep the account active.
You don't do anything else with the account.
Any considerable cash you take out is coming off your E-wallet Debit Card and you report this on your federal income tax in the USA.
What specifically is illegal about this? Why would anyone doing this need to worry at all?
Jim

So here's a closely related question.
Does anyone know what the requirements would be for a US based LLC to open a small business checking account in Canada? I don't want the account in my personal name (no, it's not for gnoming).
I travel to Toronto semi-regularly, so stopping into a bank to set this up isn't a big deal from my end.

The general concensus is to stay away from the Canadian bank accounts and open one elsewhere. Kyle may be able to answer your question though.

Black and white, and a matter of appearances.

Well, I was being slightly facetious too, but most Canadians have no trouble differentiating themselves from Americans...contrary to Dave's assertion that the cultures are identical.
(Long rant voluntarily edited, available by PM request)
Sorry for my rant. You are right, things are rarely black and white.
But, why does the obvious escape us so often, so readily?
The bottom line: Canada continues to be an escape valve for Americans, from the underground railway for slaves, to draft dodgers during Viet Nam, for intellectuals and professionals looking for the "kinder, gentler society" Bush senior imagined, and now, for poker players looking to escape the tyranny of a government supposed to be protecting their freedoms of choice and expression.
So, Head North, young man...open your Canadian bank account, open your Canadian UPS store mailing address (not a PO Box), get your Canadian pre-paid cell phone that qualifies as a utility bill for Neteller purposes (so when you have to call customer service you have Canadian caller ID), and do what you love to do....play poker and be an affiliate, and get paid instead of discriminated against.
And, if you want to play at sites that reject you because of your USA IP address, there's a solution for that too, but I have already been accused of hijacking this thread....so fuggedaboudit.
