So, you think selling the company is the answer? Who do you
think is 'trustworthy'? Full Tilt? Pokerstars? Bodog? You
thought Absolute was before this all came out too. There's nothing to say that this same exact thing couldn't have happened (or couldn't still happen) at
any site.
To suggest that selling the company to someone else doesn't help anything. Who in the industry do you think is most afraid of this kind of press right now? It's Absolute, I guarantee you that. And the cheaters are afraid of playing there. AP is likely the safest site to play on right now. You were fine with promoting them when you thought everything was fine. Well, you also think everything is fine at the other sites you market, doesn't mean everything actually is.
The idea that anyone is 'protecting' their players by not marketing AP is only fooling themself. Nobody is able to protect any player from anything like this. Did someone here have 'cheater radar' and tell their players that a player at AP was going to cheat the game, before it happened? No. So, nobody was protected. Now that it's all over with, who do you think you're protecting by booting them off your site? AP, with their newfound paranoia are probably watching players more closely than ever. Players are paying more attention than ever. Cheaters have moved to other sites. So, what do you think you're protecting your players from? NOTHING! At this point, you're probably just keeping them away from the safest online poker room, so you can send them to another site that you for some unknown reason believe is 'safe'. If this happens at another site that you market, what will you say then? Are your players going to ask you why you didn't protect them? No, because you aren't psychic. Cheating to some extent happens at every single site. Collusion is cheating, and goes on every moment of every day, at every site. So, sell them all? It's something we live with and we all know that. Poker is a skill game, but anyone who doesn't think there's some gamble in it is simply naive.
I played in a large satellite tournament at PP a couple years ago. Without getting into all the details, PP took back all of the satellite packages because they suspected that somewhere around 200 people had been involved in colluding. Since there was too much data to go over, and so many people suspected to be involved they decided to simply return everyones buy-in fee. This included the players who they suspected. Did you ever hear about that? No - 200 people, and you never heard about it. If I hadn't told you that, would you have said PP was 'trustworthy'?
Trustworthy is a relative term.
