We really should have a private area on PAW. I would like to discuss this issue properly with other affiliates who are struggling like me to decide what the best course of action is. Whether the gossip is true or not - the AP issue is something affiliates should be able to discuss in regards to their business.
How can we talk about such things honestly when we know any comments we make could end up on other forums and add fuel to the whole fire? Have you seen how many people are reading this thread?
Quick frankly, I can't decide what to do - I want to protect my players if there are any shenanigans going on. I also want to protect my site from being associated with a tainted room but I personally can't see anything concrete or new in the accusations flying around and feel it is quickly turning into a witch-hunt.
More than ever before I want to hear the honest opinions of long-term posters here, but I suspect that anyone who feels there is something in the rumours feels it would be counterproductive to post their analysis and feelings here. It's a shame because with our combined years of experience as players and affiliates there's probably no other group better able to come to a fair conclusion on this matter - if we could discuss the issues honestly.
Also, as affiliates, should we really stand by and watch a good US room wither when we could all do something to stop it if we stood together and defended them? Or is it too late anyway?

Mark Seif's statement in his blog comments the other day.

hi russell,
i was just made aware of these serious allegations this morning while playing at the wpt event at the borgata, where i am presently. while i have not had a chance to investigate this matter, i can tell you and anyone else who believes or for whatever reason has stated that i am somehow involved in this matter, unequivocally, i do not now, nor have i ever, had the ability to see hole cards on any poker site i have ever played at including absolute poker.
i doubt my results would be what they are if i had the ability to see my opponents' hole cards. in fact, i am almost certainly the biggest all-time loser on the site and have been crushed in the big games for a long, very long time. if anything, i would very much like this matter thoroughly investigated so that we can all find out what has happened, and if appropriate, to take swift remedial action such as seizing funds and returning them to the players cheated, including myself, if in fact, ap's security protections have been compromised. |

Although I was called a troll earlier for posting on this topic I feel it is important for affiliates to see this. The link above proves beyond any doubt that there was cheating on absolute poker and it was covered up or involved absolute. Absolute emailed a player a master log of a suspicious tourney by mistake involving one of the cheating accounts that won a $1000 multi table.
Call me a troll or help absolute cover this up by deleting it but this is every hand potripper played and shows all hole cards of every player. See it for yourself and consider whether you want to keep affiliating yourself with a poker room that condones cheating like this.
Jeremy, I hope you will join the poker community in a boycott of absolute poker. I know you have a lot to lose but is this really a poker room you can continue to defend? You should see boycotts up on many portals in the next day or two.

It looks like you wrote that hand history yourself...or atleast edited to suit your purposes.....some of the plays the other players made make no sense...folding with a strong hand in a big pot when your first to bet?...i don't think so...you should have put more time into it.

Posting the idea (especially with some evidence) that a cardroom is either not on the level or incompetent is not trolling. Naming a specific person without the slightest evidence is stupid trolling.

Just read the PocketFives thread and spent 2 hours going through the hand history myself.
WOW, just WOW.
I cannot believe what I'm seeing, absolutely unbelievable. I'm speechless...

I read the first 4/5 hand histories and there was nothing there to make me think anything suspicious was taking place, in fact they looked pretty standard. Also they were getting frustrating to read, would have been nice if they were converted. Can someone point out some of the main hands that raise a great deal of suspicion?

Josem on 2+2 posted several graphs comparing the players Pokertracker stats with those in a large datamined database. This is the most striking:
The horizontal line is the % of the time the player saw a flop. The vertical is their winrate in BB per 100 hands. This chart represents the data for every player in that database who has played between 500-800 hands.

How can you see the flop over 100% of the time?
