Default Homepage Review

Which one is better based on the look, feel and function of the design? This is just for the page setup, I dont know what I'm going to put in the empty boxes yet. Thanks

The new one without a doubt. Here's why:
  • I don't like the flashing "player bios" animation on original
  • I don't like the seperation of US and non US rooms (BFB in my opinion)
  • I like the 3 new small text areas for events, news, ect...
  • More text means more SEO on new design
However, there are a few things I would keep from the original:
  • The small chips image (The one where the are in a line) That's a great image for headers. Incorporate those somehow.
  • Keep the large chip image and wrap the text around it for you intro text at the top right.
Opinion that must be changed:

If you are going to us the US flags/ Non US flag option, then make them smaller. Right now they are way too big. This should just be an extra at this point. Just so a US player does not choose a room they cannot play at. not as an advertising gimmick. Also the non US flags having a black background looks as though you are outcasting rooms that do not accept US players. Again, BFB if you ask me.

Some say do not us the flags at all because you are saying that you are a site for US players. I think not. if your traffic is US based mostly then do something to keep players up to date on where they can play. but don;t seperate them like you did in the first one.

Otherwise looking strong.

Thank you very much...It took me a very long time to make the new one. I have been hating my homepage for while. I will make all the suggested changes.

Im getting a little closer...still quite a few pages to write but I finished my **** tags, made some changes to the design, added h-tags here and there, switched from htm to html (I have no idea why? ) and added a blog that i found a nice template for. How does it look now?...only the look and feel, not ammount of content ..ect Thank you

I like it. I don't think you need those little arrows on the right hand navigation, next to the links.

You banners bottom right. i feel you would be better with one long one insead. Dont like the chip stacks across the screen. I think both are distracting. Only saw the same page so i guess you have already updated. go with click rate I just prefer bland sites.

I think the site is looking great. I do agree with arrows. They seem a bit odd. No offense to Alance, but they seem not to fit right.

You can always try swapping that image out with a different arrow and see what ir looks like.

Anyway i think it looks really cool.

Thanks guys...I will take out the arrows but instead of deleting them off of every page there has to be a way to do it all at once. I use frontpage and I really just create my pages from existing pages. I spent about 3 hours the other day redoing my buttons on my pages...then another 3 hours doing it because I forgot the to change the links on the bottom. If there is a simple way to do this in frontpage that would be great. thanks

You have some font inconsistency issues on your right navigation bar that should be fixed to make the site much more appealing to the eye. For example, the Texas Holdem Strategy link uses a different font than all of the other side navigation items.....there are a few other font mis-matches besides that one in particular, too.

Yes this is easy. first COPY YOUR ENTIRE FOLDER WHERE YOUR SITE IS LOCALLLY ON YOUR COMPUTER TO ANOTHER DIRECTORY. I can't stress this enough. DO NOT DO THIS BEFORE MAKING A COPY OF YOUR ENTIRE SITE DIRECTORY

Ok! Now what you do is change one arrow to what you like or remove it whatever. Then copy the CODE that points to the old arrow. just one arrow code. Go to "Edit" > "Find" and choose the "replace" tab. You need to be within the code view before doing this. The you want to find all the old code and replace with the new code. Then choose "Entire Site" and it will copy this to all pages. if it mess up just delete the whole folder and copy your web back to where it was and try again. You cannot undue this so make that copy of your enire site first.

Hope that helps
