I think they're just doing this in case the worst-case-scenario happens, and they DO have to say bye-bye to the US market. This way they will have a huge non-US market and it won't affect them as much.

What I meant by "270" (not that it matters)" I meant that there are rooms using misreading this. The law went in place the day Bush signed...270 is preperation for banks.

Good point.

Maybe they are just going after the European market because they know their big competitors wont challenge them for their American share - Either way if the plug is really pulled they are covering themselves

Certainly Euros are going to play where the Americans are, so if that is their strategy it likely isn't a horrible one. Just interesting the timing coincides with Tribeca.

I think it was the old marketing director of Victor Chandler who got PKR.com off the ground. They were the first that I knew of to deny americans the right to play real money. Im now wondering if Full tilt were just grasping at the tail end of the US market

I still got a big question as to why all these poker rooms are cutting off american player. Doesn't the law read that financial institutes can't handle transactions anymore, correct?

Well how hell do all these poker rooms figure Americans aren't smart and set up offshore banking accounts. to me it's almost like their jumping the gun and taking an easy way out but for what? what purpose?

What would they do if I simply take a 5 min drive to canada, set up a bank acocunt, set up a po box and sign up. Isn't that complying with the law?
I'm not using an american bank but keeping my funds out country.

Yet most poker rooms already have me barred simply because my home addy is US based.
