Default Canadian Dollar Hurts

Any other Canadians not really caring for our dollar right now?

Recieved a payment for work I did in paypal this morning...paypal takes thier $20 fee which is fine but with the exchange and fees I end up losing $70.

I just cashed a large US check and feel like I should have a new set of porcelain veneers or something. Getting paid in US dollars sucked already b/c of the accounting nightmare, now we get punked on every paycheck even harder.

Fortunately one of my best sites pays me in pounds so its not so bad. Also, planning to go down to the states for a little black friday shopping, so from that perspective it is great. Although getting paid from the rest of the sites does really suck.

You read my mind kaus.

I was going to post the very same thing myself yesterday but couldn't find the time.

On Sunday I noticed a wack of PayPal "Notification of payment received" emails coming in for a new info product I'm promoting, so at the end of the day I log into my PayPal account and see this:

U.S. Dollar: $162.10 USD
Total in CAD: $146.55 CAD

Ouch.

A couple of years ago the CAD was in the 60's per USD

For every grand US we were getting around 1350 Canadian, or more.

It's amazing how fast things can change.

Yep, and the prices in Canada are not going down to reflect our strong dollar.

I have a slip from my bank from back in 1999 (I believe) where the bank paid me 1.59 Canadian dollars from each US dollar. Those were the days.

I was going to say the same thing Kyle...fortunately for anyone whos kids are still in diapers the US suppliers for Pampers are reducing the cost ...lmao ...that is it.

So far I have recieved almost $1K in Paypal deposits over the last week with more on the way within the next week and I figure I am losing almost 15% between fees and exchange rate. Almost debating on holding pf any withdraws to see if any changes are coming. I dont usually leave money in any of these accounts for to long in case of some unforseen event ( like the accounts being frozen or whatever) always skeptic about that but withdrawing it just sucks.

A month ago we were the same as the US for buying anything in BP. Cost was almost even. Couldnt believe the difference buying from a UK affiliate. I thought $100 was a great deal for links on 3 different sites for 3 mths till I learned what i was really paying - mind you they are nice solid links and I will continue with them, I just thought I was getting a great bargain

Well said. For people getting paid in Canadian dollars the dollar rising is great - trips to NY to shop, miami vacations etc.

But for those of use getting paid US dollars it's brutal because a) we lose on the exchange , b) we have to pay to exchange the money, and c)the prices in the United States are much lower then the same products in Canada, even though our dollar is worth MORE.

I know this has been beaten to the ground already it's just something I wanted to get off my chest.
