The only lesson I learned here is to never promote an affiliate program that has a history of sending out fake checks

Was one that I didn't mind dropping when they went non-US, never heard about the fake checks? lol

I've done that on 1 or 2 before to test tracking, then just never touched the account again. I'll be notifying AM's from now on though.
Have a couple new ones to test real soon.

Seems way extreme in your case?

Then you learned nothing from your mistake. You did something you should never do. They responded both appropriately and in the way they say they will.

The fake checks may be all the reason people need to not promote pokerroom, but they acted appropriately here.

You seriously think they acted appropriately? Just sending out a threatening mail to an affiliate that has sent them real money players? If they would care the least they would have at least let me explain that I wanted to test the tracker. No other affiliate program act like this. Anyway, In a way I am just glad I will never have to deal with this program again. There is no reason to promote this program anyway when there is Towergaming and PokerLoco on the same network but with better bonuses.

Do you have an AM there?

I would send them an email and say....

"I really don't understand the ban...I do understand that I broke the T&C, but as an affiliate, I wanted to test the software so I could write an honest review about Poker Room. If you wish me to continue to promote your site, please take this as an honest explanation, close my player's account if you have to, and let me know if my affiliate account has been re-instated. Otherwise, I must take down your banners and links and go in a different direction. Thank you for your time."

What I have learned in this business is that HONESTY and PROFESSIONALISM is the best route to success.

I really don't understand why affiliate programs don't let you play under your own account.

I do it at about 4 or 5 programs I promote (of course all with permission). Some just DO allow it...some don't care...and some just won't I guess.

Obviously. You acted inappropratiately. You deliberately broke the rules. All reputable affiliate programs prohibit this. Just because you may have got away with it with others is irrelevant. Nobody allows this.

Once again, you need to learn you made a terrible mistake here. You broke one of the most important rules they have... and you did it in the worst way possible, by being the first person to play on a tracker. Cardrooms must prevent the situation of where every player signs up under their own tracker. So from the cardroom perspective, you did one of the worst things possible.

"If they would care the least they would have at least let me explain that I wanted to test the tracker."

Your mistake, again, you should have asked them beforehand. Take responsibility for your mistake.

Sure I made a mistake... by sending these guys real money players. I sure regret that. I actually sent them a mail to confirm that the bonus code conected to the tracker worked but I never got a reply. That's why I tested myself.

This is the last mail I got from them:

Quote:
Hi again,
I changed tracker 37614 to 100% up to 50$ at 5 pp.

Good luck with promoting us!

All the best,
Ronald Van den Brink

Affiliate Account Manager
This is the mail I never got any answer to:

Quote:
What bonus code should be used btw?

Regards Carl-Johan
Since they never answerd I had to test my self. After testing the same bonus code as the tracker number I discovered that it worked.

Seems a bit extreme, but I'm not surprised... IF you had raked a grand or 2 I can understand banning you, but a couple dollars is kinda goofy and I'm suprised they noticed this.. They must have had you flagged for some reason..

Yes, I asked if one of my members have missbehaved or something. They just say it's because of me testing the tracker. Anyway, I really don't care about my comission, I just want to warn everyone so noone makes the same misstake of testing their tracker at pokerroom.com. Especially if you earn lots of money from them.

I want to add that even though I am still a bit angry over the harsh mail I admit that I made a mistake and that Randy and PPP are right about that. I just hoped that PokerAffiliate.com would show some mercy.
