Listen to PPP about this one.

Good internal linking strategies are very important for SE's and PR.

But while playing online poker at Full Tilt Poker I use a Full Tilt Bonus Code to get a sign up deposit bonus. Duh!

yeah but the question im asking is why is this odds calculator page a PR3 when it has no more internal/external links than my other addon pages which are a PR1

Im not doubting PPP's SEO knowledge im just trying to find out the reason so i can try get my PR1's to a PR3 and the only difference i can think of is that one is .php and one is .html... also when i had vBseo on my forum i remember the main thing that it did was change my .php's to .html's

It shouldn't be different if they are they same age and have the same links.

Google isn't perfect, so that could be one explaination. there could be a dozen others like the one page had a link to it for a few days before they updated pagerank. there is no way of knowing. The main thing though is there has never been any evidence presented anywhere that Google assigns higher (or lower) PR based on a file extension.

totally correct... not to state the over-obvious and sound a little dorky, but this is the "web" so think of an actual spider web and you'll get the idea; internal linking is a good thing to do. massive internal linking won't have great affects, if any affect, on seo per se, but it can boost a page's PR (page rank). if PR is all you're going for you'll notice it doesn't directly correlate to good seo... it just shows a page is popular in some way or form.

and continuing with the silly spider web analogy, think of your site map as the center of that "web" and thus, the spider's throne. spider's chill in the center, and therefore, it's a good thing to have for search engine spiders.

anyway, that's just about as basic as it can get. i know for some that was probably pretty silly, but i've had to explain it this way at times for clients.
