Chaning page extensions

[Kestrel]

I am in the process of changing all my pages from .html to .php

Obviously this won't effect any of my links as they don't point to index.html

However, the search engines have already indexed some of my pages, all with .html extensions.

I can do a redirect in the **** tags to the new php page...
but will I lose out on these pages being indexed?

I am thinking that maybe I should just keep these pages as html and the rest as php.

What do you guys think?

I think you should do a permanent redirect (301 redirect) from the old pages to the new.

Take a look at this guide: 301 Redirect

Oh

For some strange reason I only thought you could do 301 redirects with PHP.

Don't know why.

THanks anyway.
