Default Another new site review

Hi,

Our new site are now up, but not complete. We try to keep the pages as simple as possible and we would like your feedback on what we need to improve!?

http://www.pokerbeginner.org/

We are trying to put our two swedish pages http://www.pokerrake.se and http://www.pokerbeginner.se together and create this interanational page. We will hopefully soon ad the last english parts and then go into german. The english parts are just to get a base to stand at. We dont expect the english to provide much players or income, because you all are out there competing. No, we are hoping for our other languages. But we need to get the site in order before we put in the other languageses.

We are pretty pleased with the layout, but things can always get better right?

Thanks in advance and all tips are helpfull!

When I view your site there is a horizontal scrollbar across the bottom. I'm not sure if this is intentional as the main content of the page will fit within the width of a 1024by768 IE window. I'm not a big fan of horizontal scrollbars and they are something that drives me awya from websites.

You might want to consider using buttons that change color/shape when the mouse hovers over them (like at the top of the PAW site). They are not essential but I find they give sites a more professional feel.

Apart from that it is looking good.

Good point, havent even realised that yet myself. The hole page shows, but still threre is a scrollbar. Dont know why and how it got there Thanks for the tip.

The buttons we have tried to create but that was difficult. But maybe its worth another shot to get it more professional.

(I am not writing the code myself, so therefore i am not sure why we had some of the problems).

Edit: ThePokerBank: I belive you need to do something about the odds calculator you have on your site. Maybe I challenged it to much with the following hand and therefore ended up with a suprising result.
Player one: 4,5 both hearts.
Play two: 8,8 one heart.
Flop 3,6 of hearts and a 4.
Turn: 7 hearts.
So what is the odds? I would say 100% that the straightflush wins, but your calculater gives it 80% and the second player 20%...

An other one: Both players hold aces preflop. Then player one has a 2,9% chance of winning and the second player are better of by 3,25%! Tested a couple of different pairs KK against KK and 22 against 22. The black cards are always the favorit! (something i missed in my stats?)

Yeah you are right. It seems as though the calculator changes the way it calculates hands if you 'get odds' more than once in any given scenario. One time works fine, but the second time it does not. Thanks for pointing that out to me.

I did not program the calculator myself, it is a free tool that is available to all affiliates and there is a link to the creator's site here on PAW. I will have to get in touch.

Nice work, simple design. I would recommend breaking up the text in the middle section a bit more to make it more user friendly. It may be just me, but if I'm just getting to a new site and I see a ton of text right on the homepage, I usually don't feel like reading all the way through the entire thing. When sites break it up into different sections, it makes it easier to read.

Again, just my opinion, I'm sure others have a different idea.

Best Regards,

Mark

Ok 2 quick SEO tips for you if you want to stand out. Change your page titles to something related to a keyword someone might search for to find your site.

Second, and less important, is to get rid of all the keywords in your **** tags. looks like spam to a spider. You may want to get this down to 10-15 good key words and don's use words like poker rooms, online poker roooms, poker rooms online,

This is just trash to a spider. be simple. poker, holdem, bonus, best, you get th idea.

Looking good though.

You need to change the screen size. I have to scroll over to see the rest of the page. Also in your poker room section I wouldn't just write about what the top poker rooms are. Maybe add a some kind of chart givng a ranking as to what the top 5 are and a quick overview than bonus that they provide. Just an idea but I think more people just skip over alot of actual text, so I think if you can incorporate both it would help.
