Default Review please :) OnlineTourneys.com - Poker Tournament Search Engine / Listings

Hey,

I was hoping to get some feedback on one of my latest sites, OnlineTourneys.com

The site is going to list the normal room tournaments as well as a unique
script to allow site owners to list their own private tournaments to gain
more visitors, members, signups and players.

The site is free to list tournaments and free registration for user
accounts to search for tournaments as well as notifications if any
tournaments meeting their criteria are listed.

Right now the site up is a beta and it isn't meant for use yet, the site will be launched hopefully within 25 days when the second version of the beta is complete.

The next version will include:

User login/account
• Save tournament notification settings - This sends email notifications if a tournament meeting the user's search criteria is listed
• Create simple profile, name, poker rooms they play on, allow users to add a room and their username and add to a profile page.
• Save tournament search criterias
• Save submitted tourneys in user profiles – Allow users to view previous tournaments submitted and allow them to copy the details to add a new tournament – Just take the details of the tournament they clicked on copy and bring up the submit page with those details so they can change the date or anything else.

Top sites completed on homepage, when a site tourney is submitted save the details and add up prize amounts added by sites – Save starting date to allow users to search for sites with the most prize money in the last month, 3 months etc. in the future.

Show a hovering window for the next upcoming tourney which users can close

Allow more than one date when adding a tourney if a tournament is running on another date with the same settings/details.

Allowing users to signup for SMS alerts when a tourney is added meeting their criteria as well as well as when a tourney is about to start so users dont forget to play - All alerts will be optional

---------------------------

If I could get some feedback on the site, my plans for the next version and any suggestions you have I would really appreciate it

Thanks
John

John, I can only say that your website is really beautiful and looks really professional. Congratulations. I hope I achieve this quality in the near future.

Looks great, but I have few pointers to give.

You should give navigation menu some extra color to get it more visible. Also the "Deuce's Forum" thing kinda makes the site look confusing because the color changes so much and it looks like you have two headers in your site. That makes it confusing for visitor to see what's the real navigation and where is it.

Otherwise I like the site and the idea is great.

Looks & sounds cool, you always have solid projects

I'd trade those stripes for a large white/blue gradient like the header though Maybe a similar gradient for the top tabs too w/dark text? They're a bit blended into the background & the green text doesn't quite mesh with the site.
Sometimes its a fine line between "aha, got it!" & hmmmmm (need a pull 'yer hair out smiley)

John, once again your site looks amazing...you honestly never cease to amaze me or a lot of the other affiliates on PAW. Couple suggestions though on this one....
  • Toss the striped background -- rough on the eyes anyways and makes everything a little difficult to read and focus on.
  • Make the menu headings a little more dynamic; make them stick out more by maybe adding some shading effects when you scroll over each individual room. Also, make the text a little larger to read -- I think it'll help it stick out a little more. And as we talked about yesterday, try adding some cool little room buttons next to each room to help em stand out a little more too, ya know?
  • Change the font -- the one you have is so meh and a little boring for a site designed by you and your team. It's not bad or anything, but I prefer something a little more *KAPOW* "right in my face" kind of text, lol.
All in all John, another awesome site. I already have it bookmarked and can't wait to see it get developed through over the next few days/weeks. Cheers

lovely site John. I think you sould give your center a while background to match the tourney section and the sponsors at the bottom, then it would really look great. Currently it looks like 2 web pages stuck together with the forum blending into the backround

Thanks very much to everyone that has replied

Looks like the stripe background is being deleted first

PokerEvolver, for the Deuce's Forum section, do you mean the ad for DeuceAce in the second half of the site above the section showing the top paying sites?
I also said about this to the designer, maybe tone down the colour.

Thanks GregK
Do you mean the green font colour? I think the designer just took that because of the colour in the logo.
Any suggestions for another colour?

Thanks Pino

For your second point, which rooms do you mean for scrolling over?
Which font do you mean? The general font on the site?

I think a problem is the font would have to be a standard web font that users have on their computer, it would be different if the text could be images but since most is from a database and changes constantly it isn't an image.

If its something else you mean let me know

Or if you just mean another web font instead of what I have now.

Thanks for bookmarking!
I think its going to be around 20 days until its complete and launched.

Hey edmc
Thanks for your reply, I think I will be changing something because I agree, it does look like the site is split into 2 sections because of the design.
