Default 4kingpoker redesign thoughts ?

hi all

finally getting near to finishing the makeover to http://www.4kingpoker.com

as I still feel like a newbie / never to old to take advice any feedback appreciated on how it looks etc

particularly on the homepage front - couple of things to add but one area I'm worried about is page load time as I now have alot more graphics on there + how much does youtube affect load time for people ?

anything else constructive or destructive also appreciated

cheers scrawnybob

Load time was alright for me...counted for you and 6 secs. But at least the page looked complete almost instant. Just took the xtra to download graphics

Your page size is pretty large at 750k, you should optimize your images. You can probably decrease your page size by at least 500k and consequently increase your load time by a factor of two+.

original: 51.6k

optimized: 9.6k

Same thing with the banners on the right

original: 20.4k

optimized: 2.9k

looks good. Main banner did take a while to load but nothing I would turn away from.

Maybe a resize you will be set.

Default cheers guys

cheers

thanks for the info on reducing images - I thought this was something that might need doing to bring the page size down -

this sounds like a daft question but what do you use to web optomise / compress the images ?

is this something I get the web guy to do to the files now they are there or do I resend him the .jpgs and compress the hell out of them in photoshop first ?

cheers scrawnybob

I've always used fireworks.. of course I'll have to use photoshop, now that adobe bought out macromedia.

I'm sure somebody will chime in and explain how to optimize in photoshop.. their must be a slider bar somewhere.

Looks fine, clean and to the point. However I would align your tables to left and right where needed.

Ex: your Best Poker sites. TOP 10 text in all "centered" giving the text a snake effect. If aligned this would look much cleaner.

Still overall a clean site. Splash some lignt color here and there where you want to draw attention
