Make a MySpace account for your site or whatever the tourney is you are promoting and then add as many guys as you can that are in your area.

My OhioStatePoker site is for Columbus Ohio. I made a MySpace account and then added as many guys as I could within like 20 miles of Columbus. They dont necessarily have to be poker players already. If you can search for just poker players, then even better. I dont know how to do that on MySpace.

After you add them all make a post on each of their walls with a banner of yours tellin them to play in the tourney comin up...

I tried the offline advertising route for a tournament I had, and it was nothing but a waste of time and money.

myspace is a huge animal, but to see massive results you have to do a lot more than just putting up a page and adding a few friends. I like Justin's approach of attacking the local demographic.

Two of the guys working for me are on the cutting edge of myspace marketing. And although you may not think so, marketing on myspace can be a full time job if you want to get huge results.

The beauty of myspace is that there are almost 100 million people to market to, and it is not nessecarily frowned upon there to market your band or product.

Something I plan to do when I have more money to spend is urinal advertising in toilets in pubs. People obviously stare at the wall when they pee, and a poker advert would attract a few punters surely. Especially if they go on that night drunk. I looked into a few UK companies and they are cheaper then you think. And if youfind a bar without them up, you can cut out the middleman and make your own display.

Also hotels with WIFi access would be a good place to advertise if you can, for obvious reasons. Rich bored businesspeople with Wifi enabled Laptops. In fact I am trying to get a package together to offer hotels whereby they sign up as subaffiliates and I provide them with flyer designs and instructions. Unfortunatly my marketing expertise has let me down so far with that. if anyone would be up for helping me get a good sales pitch together I would be happy to work with them, and maybe split hotels/countries. I do Uk, you US or something.

This prolly will not work. If they were to do something liek this, they would want to go partner directly with the site, not an affiliate. Im also pretty sure that hotels that are part of chains, would not have the power to individually authorize a deal like this...

Yes it is - I was reading in the June 19th issue of Forbes that is this a major problem for Myspace and that they are working extremely hard to stop it! How is this any different then spam email - you are abusing a technology used by people to interact in order to market your product to people who do not necessarily want to see your advertisement.

I don't think this has been mentioned but I deal on ebay alot and when I leave feedback I always put my sites url in the feedback comment. It may not garner alot of attention but someone may see it and decide to visit. I also have an ebay about me page with information pointing to my site. I've recieved quite a few hits from that page.
