Hi all,

My name is Kane and i have just started working with PAW. At the moment i am only in my first week and have noticed a number of terms and acronyms that are still a bit foreign to me. I was just wondering if anyone out there would be kind enough to post a list of commonly used terms/acronyms and give definitions. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards
Kane

Hello, welcome to PAW. I'm not sure if you mean affiliate terms or just general internet terms but I'l name a few off the top of my head.
  • MGR = monthly gross revenue
  • CPA = Cost Per Acquisition
  • PS = Poker Stars
  • PP = Party Poker
  • FT = Full Tilt
  • AP = Absolute Poker
  • SEO = seach engine optimization
  • serp = seach engine results page
  • IMO = in my opinion
Thats all I can think off...I'm very tired. Hope it helps

Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply, i should have been more clear, i am referring to PAW terms. I have noticed CPA and MGR tossed around abit, is it possible to elaborate on their definitions.

MGR = If one of my players generates $100 in rake and I'm on 25% MGR I will receive $25 unless there are other fees and such. You will usually earn MGR for as long as that player plays.

CPA = XXXX poker room pays me a one time fee of $100 for each player I send. The player must deposit and earn a certain number of points before I get paid.

What exactly are you going to do at paw? Its kinda weird that noone introduced you or anything.

Hi,

I am working with Mitchell, i will be checking the stats from the rooms and making sure they match with the PAW system as well as working on the help desk.

If it's not too much trouble, could some explain "rake" to me

thanks for your help so far

Hi guys,

I guess Kane beat me to the introduction!

As some of you guys might know, we're going through some exciting changes in the near future, and Kane has been brought on board to help elevate the network to the next level.

Whilst Kane will be primarily involved in the statistics updates and support requests, he's comes equipped with an astute background in marketing. Which means we can expect a much more dynamic input into the promotions and look of PAW in the coming months!

Kane's new to the industry and is trying to independently familiarize himself. So whilst he's getting himself updated with our network, be nice to him and i'm sure he'll prioritize your requests!

Ladies and Gents, i'd like to introduce you to Kane.

Hi kane. Rake is the fee that the rooms take from players during each real money ring game or tournament (fee). The standard in most rooms is 5% of the pot to a max of $3 depending on which room and how many players, and what limits. Every hand played generates rake.

and btw welcome
