Well the latest development is quite fun:

Quote:
When we last left off, we were talking about User #363:

---
..."[S]tarting 2 minutes into the tournament, Potripper's table was being observed for over 2.5 hours by an account with the user ID #363 (meaning this was created during beta testing)[...]Does it surprise anyone to know that the IP address of the user of that account resolved to AP's own servers?"
---

But wait, there's waaaaaaay more.

User #363 (hereafter "Hole Card Cam") was not the only player on that IP address in the Excel file. A second ID, with the email address of , briefly opened up another table, closed it quickly and was never seen again in those 2.5 hours the file covers. Since they are both on the same IP, we can make the very educated guess that was actually Potripper (who never moved tables and whose IP therefore wasn't logged in the file) accidentally opening another table by mistake. [If you don't know what an IP address is, the short version is that they are two computers on the same network.]

So, find , and/or find the IP address, and we have Potripper. At this point, I pulled some strings, and the IP was cross-referenced between other poker sites.

It came back as belonging to the home cable modem of a guy named Scott Tom.

In the last six months, 2+2's seen a rash of spam for Absolute, headed by two people - namely, this guy, "pokermachine", and his alter ego, The Watchdog (both from the same Costa Rican IP). He/they stopped posting after they were outed as 'in AP upper management'.

Pokermachine's 2+2 login name? "scotttom".

What exactly is Scott Tom's position? In this random blog entry, we find out that Scott Tom is one of the two CEO's and owners of Absolute Poker.

Hi, Scott. I hope you're reading this right now

(He almost certainly is, BTW, because rivieraltd.com and a number of other sites listed on 2+2 have been taken offline in the last 24 hours.)

Could be something as stupid as one of the Ceo's needing a few million to cover a bad deal , and figured no one would find out if he used his Superuser account and siphoned off a few million every once in a while

Maybe this is why they have been so quiet about it...it is THEM doing the cheating.

And the person writing the blog was employed by them from 2005 - programming (might be totally irrelevant but it backs the chance we might have the right name)

AP

I am researching the company I will represent in a few days. This includes spending a little time on their site to see how it navigates. As "PokerBtch3" on AP, I tried a couple single table tourneys to get my feet wet. The first one didn't go well due to computer malfunctions and was forfitted. After attempting to fix the glitch and praying it worked, I managed to find another table. The first hand someone knocks out 2 other players. A couple of hands later I get pocket rockets and wait to see what action I can get. I min. raise praying that the big stack after me will re-raise me and he does. I get two more callers and it is my turn to act. I push. Big stack pushes, one folds, one calls. 10,6,6,J,A. It was awesome. He had Jrag. I knew from that moment it was my tourney to take. I sat back and waited for my hands. Things went smooth. It was Big Stack and I in the final two and it ended with a bang. I raise big, he re-raises, I push, he calls. I had QQ, he had AJ. Needless to say he caught an A on the turn and I came in 2nd. But I was happy overall with how it went.

As far as the site mechanics, I thought they were fine. It is under further investigation. One issue that needs to be addressed is when viewing different windows AP window doesn't pop up when it is your turn to act. On Stars it does and I like that. Many times I am multi tasking when playing and I can get easily caught up in whatever it is I am doing. To be fair, I must try a wide variety of action and then have a final analysis.
