LCD and its not even close.
Better quality, lasts longer, and if you are using it for xbox, no worries of burning the images into the screen.
LCD 1080, I prefer samsung, or sharp aquos.
www.dealsucker.com has a one item a day deal on tv's scroll down to find. They are refurbished, but you can get a warranty so no issues. Incredible savings.

LCD... After doing some research when I bought my TV it seemed like the general consesus was to go with LCD for many of the reasons listed by Brandon. I would only consider Plasma if there was a budget constraint as they are probably a little cheaper. Like Brandon said, best to go with the 1080P (not 1080i because 1080i is essentially 720p. 1080p means that it is true HD) if those are your intentions.

Yep. LCD by a landslide. 1080p is probably the way to go, but remember... just because you have a 1080p tv doesn't mean you'll see it in that resolution. The content provider (channel) has to also deliver it in that resolution. Also remember many channels don't even offer an HD version of their programming yet. MTV, VH1, Fox News, CNN (which just launched an HD version yet only about 10 people can get it) and many others don't yet offer HD programming.
I personally think the 1080p thing isn't really a necessity right now since only a handful of channels actually broadcast in it, but it doesn't hurt.
Also make sure to use an HDMI hookup. Better quality and one easy cable for audio and video. If possible find a tv with more than one HDMI hookup too.

Very true -- so many channels being offered right now on DirecTV. And a lot more on the horizon from what their customer service has been telling me.

After reading this article below it says that plasmas have a better picture quality and overall it is pretty much a toss up between the two. If you are using it with a computer, then definetly LCD.

Why do u say it is not even close Brandon? I am curious because I have a plasma now and am planning to upgrade to a larger plasma or LCD soon.
