I also would choose the LCD. I recently purchased a new TV, and after hours of reading it seemed that LCD has the edge (which didn't use to be the case).
I highly recommend the Sony Bravia series, but really there are plenty of great options out there. Just try to read some personal reviews on them before you buy and deff look for a TV with more than one HDMI port.

If you don't plan on purchasing digital cable, than make sure it comes with a good analog tuner. The floor models in a store are running digital, and some people find out too late that their analog cable looks like crap.

Why do u say it is not even close Brandon? I am curious because I have a plasma now and am planning to upgrade to a larger plasma or LCD soon.

I have had both, and the LCD is much better IMO. Its much more vibrant, and great from all angles. Not to mention its much better for sports which is primarily what I watch.

Plasma = LCD thru a screendoor lol
The new 1080p is amazing, was checking out some new Mitsubishi's lately.
Really like Samsung though & Sharp would round out my top3.
Must have HDTV its kickass.
Don't know about the DirecTV being the best HD? They've been trying to play catchup with DISH for awhile. I have 40 or so HD channels.
Checkout both.
ditto on the HDMI plugs, its plug n play for all yer audio/video.

I dont know but going to sizes as 50-60 inches I would still stick to plasma BUT the best advice one can give you is watch the tv you want to but many times, different views and programs vs other tv-s with same programs.
good luck mate!

Is 37" big enough for a living room? I want to hang it on the wall. There is a great sale downstairs at the mall in my building HD lcd. People complain that their eyes hurt when they play xbox360 on my smaller old school television.

yeah, 37 would be perfect for living room I think, probably a bit overkill for a bedroom.
Seems like larger needs some real viewing distance for best picture too.
What do some of you guys with larger think the best viewing distances are?
