Article Marketing - how effective is it?

I just recently discovered article marketing. (refer to ezinearticles.com) I haven't actually tried it, but I think it seems to be a good idea. Has anybody ever tried this? Is it worth the trouble of writing an article and posting it to another site. Does it acquire a lot of traffic?

Ive tryed it a little...my articles get a lot of views but very few people click my link.....but I guess it all depends what your article is about.

why give your content to other sites? maybe you could write several solid articles from different aspects of your site's niche topic but post them to YOUR site... then write a mashup article about them all and give that to article sites.

It's EXTREMELY effective. I just wrote an article and published it to my favorite article directory. Within a few days, the article itself was listed #8 on Google for the keywords I targeted!!! (Very important keywords for my site.)

That same day, I saw the site that I linked to in my artcle (that I was trying to promote) listed as #6.

I was ecstatic and decided that I'm going to do this a lot more often.

If you learn how to do it the right way, it's incredibly effective. So many people are doing it the wrong way though.

They are submitting to 100's of sites with software and going for the quantity over quality spammy type of crap. NO NO NO! The key is just to use the right keywords and most importantly, the title. Then properly link back to your site in the resource box with the right keywords.

This whole technique is an art form. Perfect and get tons of targeted traffic back to your sites from the article directories and mostly from Google!!!

Two follow-up questions,

Where are these article directories?

Two, do you know of article sources - like seo writers who would sell their services, in case I wanted a quantity of articles right away..

Just search for article directories on any search engine.

Yes, there are plenty of writers for hire. You can find them also by searching. Sorry to sound so vague, but it's true. Google is your friend.

Keep in mind that article marketing success stories are few. Everyone says it is the best free promotion method, however it is a lot of work for often a very small return. If you can't write a good article to keep the reader interested, you don't get the click.

people post article no to get traffic, they post it caz it helps to get good rank in google. as example, someone type a keyword in google search, if it is releted to your article it will come up on top ranking. and those visitor will read your article and if they find interesting visit your site.
