Thanks once again.
Could you point me in the right direction with an example forum that I can look at.
I am an administrator at poker4everfree.net and use Suited Pockets and littleslickspoker all of which are huge

Here are my forums

http://www.pokerprofessor.co.uk/forums/

As you can see only 7 categories - like everyone else in this thread I would highly suggest you keep it down to at about 5-10 categories max.

You can always add more at a later stage once your userbase has grown and requires more categories.

Here is what I would do,

First your announcements don't need to be duplicated throughout...just have one and also include in that section rules, member introductions etc..

When you have an announcement (generally for the month) you can sticky it than update it each month...same goes for rules this way there is only one posting and than members can do their intros following this in the same forum.

Anything poker related, your bad beats, best hole cards, even articles etc into one forum. You can put your artciles in a sub board. All tournament related information into one section where you can create sub forums if the need is there, the wsop* FAQ's I would scrap.

Tools/ Book Reviews and any type of poker resource like that into one,

Poker friends, new sites and you could even throw in wanting to own your own poker site into one forum

That would narrow it down to roughly 6-7 forums. Good luck

Basically a forum has to grow with it's needs. Once you starting getting 1000's of members then there will be a need for more forums. But starting out the idea is to get members. Take the reason people are coming to your site and make forums out of that.

If they are looking for freerolls have a free roll section, if they are looking for tips have a tips sections. determine who your visitors are and go from there.

Large forums all strted out small. Even PAW was only like 7 forums when I started here and they were already big.

Due to problems beyond my control the forum has moved and changed and can now be found here.
