What a crock. They aren't getting the price they want, so they are stopping promoting them.
The cardrooms have always had a really bizarre relationship with pokerlistings, going back to when they started and their business model was buying Overture and adwords above the cardrooms for their brand names (and the cardrooms let them). Now the ratings and rankings are based on who pays them more, not the quality of the cardrooms.
Good news for everybody. It's never great when the cardrooms overpay one place and compensate by underpaying others.

when I saw that the other day, I kind of thought...... good for poker listings and this can only help other affiliates.
my way of thinking was its good to let poker rooms know they cant mess around affiliates and its good to see PL take action when it was required.
what if they agreed a cpa of $300, then the rooms said sorry we only want to pay $250 and changed the deal against PL. As most poker sites know they can do this with no recourse(and most affiliate would continue to promote as they make have done well with them in the past and don't want to change there site etc).
I think it shows the power of the affiliate and that we are the ones driving their businesses.
Also the higher the cpa poker listings get, I think its better for us also, as its a mark to go against for our cpa deals
example: if poker listings send 1000 players a month to room A @ $350 CPA - they might offer me or you $275 for say around 200 players a month.
But if they reduce poker listings CPA to say $300 for 1000 players - then affiliate who send 100-200 players a month are not likely to get a cpa of $275.
As normally in business the higher one gets paid = higher the rest get paid, same as if the top guys get less, then so does everyone else
just some thoughts imo..........

I don't have anything ill feelings toward PL for what they are doing. If they are in disagreement with the poker rooms, then they have the full right to stop promoting them. I would do the same if I was in disagreement with a poker room.
These days, however, I don't think PL has the same clout that they used to have. I'm sure their traffic is way down since Google penalized their site.

If Patrick wasn't so crass with the affiliate managers, PokerListings would probably have a better relationship with them. He makes enough money playing on Full Tilt anyways, wtf does he care about taking a temporary dip while he waits for the rooms to make a better offer.

Good for them! I think that affiliates should stand up for themselves if there is some problem with the business relationship. If those sites aren't paying the bonuses that they have promised PL players, I am sure it is creating a real headache for the PL people.

Posting armwaving nonsense is not "good for them". It embarasses other affiliates, and makes our job harder. Pokerlistings' practice of selling their reviews to the highest bidder already makes other affiliates look bad.
Cardrooms don't have to give them X dollars more than anybody else, for eternity especially. Cardrooms don't have to give them what they want this month just because they did last month.
More to the point, it is lunacy to expect cardrooms to pay the same CPA for US players today as a year ago. That is just flat out stupid. Anyone who thinks a US player is worth as much as a year ago has been in a coma.
Some folks need a reality check.

I don't think it's any coincindence these are all US facing rooms. Like a previous poster mentioned the value of US players has gone way down (increased transaction costs, decreased play, etc etc). Add to this the fact the Google penalty and associated decrease in referrals its no wonder these poker rooms aren't going to pay what PokerListings is asking for.
An interesting thread over there:
