Let's say you got your hands on a large (30K) list of email addresses from a tier two poker site. These are RMP's.

I don't want to get into a discussion about the origins or morality/legality of the list, so lets just say you have it and are trying to figure out how to best use it.

What would you do? You only have email addresses, so no physical address to send promo packs to.

Would you do up a newsletter? What sites would you market?

Tuco.

Well, no need to call me names since I haven't done a thing.

I think I'll pass on the list though. Too much potential trouble.

Nobody called you a name. Using such a list though would be illegal (in the US), and it would be lowlife jerky as marketing, and it would be totally unscupulous as business since those lists should never be up for sale.

I would not be so quick to discount the worth of these E-mail addresses - even if you "aquired" them if you did some research you can legally send them an E-mail as long as you followed the Can-Spam rules.

He's right as long as you follow the can spam rules you can leggally send spam. In reality it just leaglized spam if you follow the rules.

Only people who expect to fail use stolen property. These addresses are either stolen from a cardroom, or being used in violation of cardroom's confidentiality agreements.

Leaving aside the complete lack of ethics to use something like this, if it comes to light, which it likely will, a person would set themselves up for a shitstorm that would be 100% deserved.

Sounds like a lot of jealous responses.

I think that as long as you can't get in trouble (are not the one who comitted the illegal act to attain the list....if even there is an illegal act) for the situation, I think that you can tactfully send out a newsletter to the list of players. Remember, these players are all INDIVIDUALS and are not connected (i.e., they are not family or all living in the same area)...therefore I doubt you will get into any difficulties.

Just my opinion.
