Conversion Strategy

I figure there is no time better than now......

With the Negreanu College Poker Championship we had a chance to convert thousands of players into real money players and we did ok. I always think you can do better so i'm going to ask for some feedback on this.

We did all the usual tactics for conversion: Free rolls, add on's, win a $50 dollar tourney and have a chance to play Negreanu for an additional bonus scholarship, etc....

If any of you were faced with a database of thousands of poker players in a short period of time what would you do to increase conversion?

Am I missing any really good conversion tactics that could improve our % of real money players?

If I had thousands of play money players with their contacts, I think a challenge to deposit $20 and see who the best Canadian rounder is might be a good idea. See who can get the highest bankroll without depositing over $100.

I think with a chance to convert thousands, you have to give them a reason that no one else does. Free rolls and all that are great, but they can go to other sites and do those (and usually for a higher amount of money)

You are going to have to give them something to do so, I would suggest getting with Scott from SuperPokerAffiliates and getting your players some poker software for playing. This way they will get better at poker, and make you more in the long run.

There are a lot of other ways that you can convert, but the moral to the story is it all depends on your traffic. If they don't play poker, they wont convert so it doesnt matter what you do. If they do play poker...especially online, you can catch their attention with things that poker players would like. Ex...calculatem, etc

Brandon... They are all poker players because they are playing the college poker championship. So this is a qualified list of players to potentially convert

P.... Do you mean give them a prize for building the largest br on $20 over a period of time? Ex: Who ever has the highest br in 60 days will win an additional prize on the $20 dollar deposit

You can do a contest...each player gets $10 free. Person who turns that $10 into the highest bankroll wins a set prize.

Otherwise I would suggest, a poker league, a poker tournament with a good amount of cash added, or the poker software I talked about before.
