hi all

I know the merits of organising freerolls for forum members has been discussed

I am still doing freerolls for members and have just put the posting requirement up from 1 to 5 posts to try and cut numbers and get more proactive contributions to the forum

however im looking at the titan freeroll im doing today and have a ruck load or players who have made under 5 posts or none - so they cant access the passwords which are locked

and yet theyre in the tournie

to be honest im on a bit of a witch hunt now - as it just gets up my nose that obviously someone is telling everyone the password

I can live with people making retarded one line posts - that i expected

• can we pool our resources to name and shame the freeroll password whores ??

Looking at names and other forums we're all supporting a ruck load of the same titan players who are clearly just after passwords - but they're taking it further and sharing them around as far as I can see

Is there somewhere on the net where they all get together and share info ? if so where is it ?

who are the freerollers anyone has had probs with ?

cheers in over optomisitic optomism that we can get rid of them between us

Running freerolls just aren't worth the hassle, I've run them for a long time now and I've just resorted to putting the password up on the homepage on the day of the freeroll, to avoid the hassle of password stealers, whores, spammers etc.

I got a heads up from some forum member when I last ran a freeroll on Titan, about a guy who joined my forum who apparently runs a "secret freeroll password forum" lol. well anyway the guy wouldnt give me the url, so basically there you go, and freerolls are fun, but they dont make you lots of money. The amount of freerolls that are being held by affiliates now is unbelievable, so unless you are offering something really special or added money, I wouldnt bother keeping the pw secret.

ScrawnyBob

There are a few ways of handling this problem, which we implemented at Paradise:

1. Use a password, but disallow all railbird chat - this saves people coming in and begging for the password. This obviously doesn't help those that pass the password onto their mates (or "secret freeroll password forums").
2. Register all the relevant Players for the tourney. So long as you provide their Usernames with sufficient time they can be inserted into the specific tourney - and then onyl you have the password that you can give out to specific latecomers (if needed). Thsi has proved a great success with many affiliates.

cheers Nick and all for thoughts

I have been moving away from freeroll only formats recently

the trouble with codes / passwords or doing the email list to poker site is - time and hastle

the trouble with buy-ins is they seem suprisingly hard to get off the ground - even low ones.

IMHO most of the players out there are kids or morons (with a few exceptions of really committed players and most are signed up to just about everywhere already)

I'm not sure what the % is (id be interested what people think) of play money to real money players but AFAIKS all the poker sites are supporting 70% play to 30% real

Given that they do this on the basis that some will eventually convert I had been thinking the same approach for my forum members -

now I've got a higher posting requirement - I am frankly amazed at the lengths players will go to get into what is a two bit freeroll for peanut prizes

posting garbage, having secret password forums etc - why dont they just get there cards out and get on with winning or playing for real money ?

Added to this the general attitude and manners of these whores is depressing too.

Is it me or are things getting tougher and valuable players scarcer ?

anyway cheers for the help guys
