I went to a local casino today to play in a $175 buy in tournament that guaranteed $10K for first place, so the poker room was packed (well for this card room it was, about 200 people).

I saw a vender set up with a laptop signing up people for pokerhost. He was giving away a free shirt or hat if you signed up with pokerhost. He just got your info and set you up with an account and password, and told you about the bonus for that month.

I am pretty sure this guy paid to set up shop in the poker room (he was wearing a Vender #23 badge).

Have any of you guys done this?

If so could you tell me the price I would expect to pay the casino?

Also is their a good rate of return of the sign ups for the free shirt actually playing for real money?

Thanks in advance!

I am surprised any poker room would allow this. But if they did, I would think your conversion rate would be fairly well if you were promoting a good site. This is your dream target market...........200 real money players who can afford to play in a $175 buy-in event.

If I were you I would call that card room and see if you can do the same thing. If you get the O.K., then I would contact one of you better AM's and explain what your going to do and have them get you some good marketing material.

Even better to get them set-up or playing at the site, maybe you should set up a private online tourney just for those players.

I'd offer to pay double whatever the other guy was paying. This is a perfect opportunity to get sign ups with great conversions!

Jeremy is right, the private tourney thing is a sure fire way to get conversions too.

Party probably wouldn't be the site I would promote to exsisiting real money players at a "live" card room. There is a good chance a majority of those players already have Party accounts.

Secondly, as real money players they should already know about the hundreds of different online poker sites out there and more than likely are not as receptive to deposit bonuses as the "new" players we promote to.

With that said you need to pick a room that is reputable and will be attractive to these players......Party is great but again, amongst real money players it is very saturated. Then you need to enhance your promotion by offering something other than a bonus code on a flier.

Perhaps you promote a private tourney and coin it as the "Your Town Championship of Online Poker". Now instead of directing them right to the poker site, direct that offline traffic to YOUR website and have the page SELL the online championship. This way you get these offline players emotionally involved and give them an actual reason to sign up at the site you are trying to promote.

Here is a great example. Let's say that Randy and I decide to promote some small room......ABCDEFGPoker.com and tell you guys that you will get a wopping 100% deposit bonus!!! We may get a few rmp's but it won't be anything earth shattering.

Now if we do a $10 buy-in event and the winner will get a free trip to next years CAC............I imagine we would see massive sign-ups and conversions. The key is that you have to give players something that they really want.

How bad does somebody playing at a casino want a bonus code for a new site or a small flier to stuff in their pocket..................food for thought.
