Newspaper Advertising

Newspaper Advertising... For those of you who have done it, how effective is it? My paper is just starting to post a newspaper column, "Hellmuth's Hold Em'" and i'd like to advertise right next to it...

Do you know how much it generally costs? I am going to call them on a business day, but I'd appreciate it if someone could give me a rough estimate for a small ad per month.

It's expensive. I was going to run an ad a few months back but the paper wouldn't run it because of legal concerns. I think for a small ad in the sports section they wanted over $100 a day.

Expensive and Ineffective are the two words that come to mind.

I put over $1500 for a single months advertising in several top name school newspapers and the local "Union Tribune" here. I netted I believe about 5RMP and 15TP from the whole ordeal. Highly ineffective, and very expensive.

Hmmm, i think I might take a shot at it, because at $150 CPA + 25% MGR I think it may be worth it for Empire.. depends how much they charge though.

we advertised in a newspaper for a different poker related product (our dealer training course, www.dealer-training.com) and it was pretty much worthless. For some simple text ads we spend around $700. a waste for the most part.

If you know that you're going to have a targeted market that will not only see your ad, come to your site and then click on your links and play poker then hey, its worth a shot.

by the way, the 125 + 25% is awesome... i thought i had worked a good deal w/ empire about a year ago when i got $45 +25%...
