I'm thinking of making a WSOP site and if I don't remember incorrectly Jeremy used to own some WSOP domains which he lost to the trademark owners.

Has anyone else had similar problems? Has anyone here ran a site with WSOP in the domain name and NOT gotten sued for it?

Any advice or information would be appreciated.

I've heard they're pretty protective of their trademark.

I lost a domain early on in this biz when I got sued by a Vegas casino. No fun dealing with that, and around Christmas time no less.

randy -

Was that suit more than a "take it down or will sue"? Did you have to get attorney's involved or did they say just cease and desist.

No, it was a real lawsuit with a court date and an appearance required and everything.

They agreed to drop the suit in exchange for transferring the site over to them, but they were definitely playing hardball.

I too was sued by Harrahs and Randy is right, they don't mess around. You can probably find my post about it from a few months ago if you use the search option to search for it.

Using WSOP or World Series Of Poker in any domain name is going to be a losing proposition for you. I would say you should avoid it.

It was good for me me while it lasted but that was back when Binions owned them and they had no internet knowledge at all. As soon as Harrahs came on board I immediatly got contacted by their attorneys.

They were probably the same attorneys. There's a law firm in Vegas that specializes in that type of case. (It was a different casino group that sued me though.)
