Default KGC questioned on their ability to license casinos

http://www.cbc.ca/technology/story/2...alace1129.html

May be old news but this is the first I have heard lately to do with the Canadian governement and online gaming.

This sounds like VERY BAD NEWS in my opinion.

Why? I don't know all the legal stuff here, so I'm just asking. Even in a worst case situation where they were shut down, wouldn't all the rooms just move to servers in Costa Rica, Antigua and Barbuda, or wherever? There isn't anything in that article which states that KGC isn't doing their job properly, just a questioning of their authority to hand out licenses.

So, am I missing something?

If you think Neteller disappearing had an affect on the industry, if it ever gets ugly with Kahnawake, and they have to stop for a while...look out.

I agree with corpfan. To be honest I like the fact that a casino or poker room is licensed by the KGC. May sound stupid but at least I know that its someone in my own backyard. It's funny because our government has never hidden that they hate the fact that "they" lose out on tax dollars, "their" casinos take a hit in revenue so as a result so do the services that these funds provide for within the communities. Do you actually think they are going to fix our healthcare issues, affordable housing problems for low income earners, run down schools and the teachers who are underpaid working within them,........... probably not

Kahnawake booted several sportsbooks (most that also had casinos) because they changed their policy so that wagers could not be taken over the phone. A bunch of sites had no down time for the most part, late night routing maintenance is all for some, and were up and operating in Costa Rica pretty much over night.
I don't think its all that big of a deal. Costa Rica will license anyone who pays the fee and its all pretty much a joke, its just a piece of paper operators need to keep payment processing.
