Default MGM / Harrah's Ready To Bet On The Web - Link

Found this via a P5's thread... http://www.lvrj.com/business/11339181.html

Interesting in a couple of ways.... declaring they are ready to jump into online poker when legal - and also (gu)estimatates of the time frames.

Cheers, Mark

The great part of this is the executives were accepting the idea that poker would lead the way, and casino games would follow several years behind. What we need is the casinos to fight a battle for poker, not gambling in general.

I agree with you, take what you can get now. There will be many people that will find comfort in those brands. It also would be a good platform for their B&M.

All of that is separate of the point that Casino's and even Sports Betting over the internet is not really addressed by the wire act. The fact that BOS took bets over the phone was the illegal part.

From what I understand Frank's bill makes no exception for just poker though many people believe it will do just that in the end.

Interesting article. Sounds promising and seems almost eminent that poker will be legalized.

This is exactly what we need. The B&M casinos are a powerful force to be reckoned with. Can you imagine if they actually organized a push for legalized online poker?

Personally, I would love to see more poker-only legislation brought up. It would certainly lend more credibility than throwing in house games and sportsbooks. Hopefully, poker can distance itself from the public perception that it's all the same.

Funny though, being that Harrahs was supposed to be behind the original ban by way of campaign contributions.

Well it works out great for Harrahs. They destroy a couple rooms and watch their price fall. They buy them for pennies on the dollar and then push to legalize online poker.

The chances of that being true are zero.

This is a huge step either way. The bottom line is that once these B & M Casinos start operating over in Europe and they can show the US lawmakers that it can be regulated, they are going to push very hard to get it available to the US people and they will have no problem doing so. As for Casino games online - you have to figure it will follow the big poker movement very fast. These companies will want all of their products available to the US market. I think it will still be a year or so before Harrahspoker is online and you can bet on them having an affiliate program. Not a bad idea to start targeting those keywords now.
