So basically people will no longer be searching for "bonus codes" now will be "referral codes".

My guess is it will hurt the select few who rank for the new term because less people will search for referral code as compared to bonus code. It's good for everyone else if so because it keeps your players from getting scraped. Didn't they use to have it named referral code in the past anyways?

I don't think anyones players get scraped at Full Tilt in this fashion anyway. The way Full Tilt had it set up before (I don't know if this is the case or not now) was that the bonus code section would be greyed out if players had clicked through from an affiliate link. The player could not put in a bonus code if referred from an affiliate link which prevented your players from getting scraped. This is not the case on other sites however. For instance if a player at Party clicks through from one of your links and begins to sign up and notices a place for a bonus code. They then go to Google to find a bonus code which leads to the signup ultimately being credited to someone that ranks well for the bonus code as opposed to the player being tracked to the affiliate that actually referred them.

Good to know. I just checked and it seems like it's no longer the case. It could be that I just deleted and re-downloaded from the same computer though. If I weren't lazy I'd try on my other computer.

It was a very recent change in early November (luckily we noticed the change due to stats). However, I am surprised Full Tilt didn't announce it ahead of time to affiliates. At least they made sure the bonus codes worked as referral codes.
