Default Trading/Buying Poker Money

Kyle made this post today and its funny I was just asking someone about this, along with a second discussion with another affiliate

Quote:
I'm not a lawyer and am in no place to give legal advice, but I imagine creating a site for the sole purpose of transferring gambling money to avoid fees or to get around gambling laws would be illegal anywhere in North America.
Now I get PM's frequently asking me to trade..usually Paypal for FT or PS. Almost every newbie I turn down but am curious as to what others think. I have no issue with regulars but these PM's are from literally 1st timers who have never posted before that make me wonder

a) why are they here and for this sole purpose (is it through word of mouth that people can ask here)

b) is this illegal? I would think possibly..obv someone have difficulty which means they can not so making it accessable......

a) People openly offer, so i think it is fair enough to ask. Why? its an open forum, lots of people read but do not join. It also brings in people chancing their luck.

b) money laundering is illegal. You might get caugh transfering money with someone with a stolen credit card or from a site that shows hole cards

Transactions i would consider safe & have used.

1) paying out for a known service i.e. advertizing

2) sending cash to a friend that has never played with you or they are not under your affiliate account.

3) someone who has been on a forum for a while, seems reputable enough & the transaction isnt enough to hurt if it goes pear shaped.

Transactions i would consider unsafe

1) newbie on a forum requesting a transfer.

2) wants your money in first.

3) googling name doesnt show any poker results

Obv the first two I use, I am still a skeptic that I have to see that they have been a regular member meaning posting before hand, although that doesnt mean much considering how many regulars there are that only read. But I never thought about the last suggestion. Thanks Ed..

The answer to every poker question I've ever heard and in this instance is depends.

I've done a few paypay to a poker site transfers for friends.

Other than a hick-up with a new e-pisspoorservice.com 90 day player to player block on FT I haven't had a problem. But then again I've got a lawyer on retainer,

Is this only for player-player?
What if a forum allowed it between members and had a facility to do so, even if this was just a forum for members to contact each other?

I am starting another topic about this, I have been thinking something for a few months but I read another thread earlier and it brought it back to my mind
