Default Online Poker with webcams

Over the years I have been approached a few times by operators either launching or wanting to launch online poker sites that utilize webcams. Essentially instead of seeing and avatar at the table you would see the real person on a webcam. Some have even talked about integrating voice.

Although web chats are popular, I just can't see this being super popular within the online poker market. Perhaps I am wrong though and it could be huge....

What do you guys think?

OMG could you imagine how funny it will be if someone gets really screwed in a hand.....the reaction....lol

I wouldn't use it...I think it would actually become quite the distraction

most poker players don't want this junk - they don't want 3D software or other lame features that slow the game down either.

webcams are just plain awkward. Why would you want people to see you staring into a computer monitor? I would just feel like a douchebag even playing at the site.

I think its not a good idea. Jacksandqueens didn't die because of just that, they died for many reasons (case in point affiliate program).

There is no need to see my opponent, and the last thing I want is to suck out on a 300 pound man and have him give me a "free show".

Its for recreational players, so you would have to allow US play, and understand that you will never get legit players on there. No high volume player is going to play at a site that only allows one table.

Just my opinion.

Agreed, i can only see people playing there once and leaving. It would be done just for the "novelty" factor.

No their all tied up selling UVME right now.

Yea the whole webcam thing with online poker just sounds weird. I enjoy the fact that I am anonymous and nobody can see me while I'm playing. I mean really on a Saturday night........would I want my opponent knowing I am drinking a beer on my couch and surfing internet porn while trying to play a SnG.

(P.S. I am just kidding about the beer drinking part.)

It was either in Business 2.0 Magazine or Bluff Mag where there is actually a site right now doing this or developing the software to do this. I cannot remember the actual site name or where the story was. (not much help I know) But I do recall the actual image of the software in the article and it looked ok... I figured it would be garbage but the software and the web application to run the avatars looked pretty decent.

It could be the same site your talking about above i'm not sure. But I do remember seeing the article and it looked pretty decent.

I hate the idea personally and do not think this will work but there will be some type of evolving of the Poker Software in years to come. The question is what will the positive changes be?
