i used to have a desktop with (3) 19" lcds, but i either downgraded or upgraded to a 17" laptop with an extra 24" lcd -- my kids love the desktop now since they can watch cartoons on one monitor, a movie on another and play on nick.com with the other - 1920x1200 is getting cheap - the 17" laptop, 24" lcd and ext 500gb drive for under $2k back in january '07

Well, you have to have to video cards to run 3 monitors. But I'd like to know as well.

2x Dell 2007WFPs although my desk is way too small for them. Perfect for working on multi-windows and can't see there being a time when I'd want three.

Hey guys, I have a laptop right now. Can I get a monitor and keyboard and just somehow route it through my laptop so I can use the monitor?

Im thinking of getting a 20-22 inch monitor.

Yeah, if you get a monitor it'll plug right into the trapezoid shaped blue port, you won't need any other graphics cards.

That is how I have mine set up. Shouldn't be an issue at all. Just pick a monitor based on the connection on the back of your laptop (ie. I think Macs have a different style port for monitors)

If you don't have a DVI plug on your laptop?
Get a LCD with both the blue VGA plug & a white DVI plug, for future compatibility.

DVI gives a better pic if you have it?

Don't get a 22" or 24" just because they're bigger either, check out the 20's. The 20's had a much crisper picture in my side by side comparison.
It was really surprising actually.

If you're buying online? I swear by these guys... http://newegg.com/

Edit: I have 2 of these, no complaints & supports both analog & DVI cards.
