3 Home Pages Into 1 - Ht access code

Ok cant find it even thou i know we discussed it before /

I have versions of my homepage , the www version the non www. version and the /index version

Used 301 redirect ot make all non www go to www .

Problem im having is making the /index one go to the www version , every time i put the code into the ht access it makes the whole site go down , think i might have a mistake in the code . Heres the code i used anuone see a mistake in it? the part in bold works greayt its when i put in the last line to make /index go to just the www version

First of all, it looks like one redirects to a .com/ and the other one to just a .com Since you are doing the redirect, you might as well be anal about it.

 
RedirectMatch 301 index.html http://www.recentpoker.com/

Should do the trick, unless there was a specific reason you didn't want to redirect 301.

Well tried it does not work as soon as i try to redirect the index to the regular the site does not load ,

silly question but are you sure you have saved it properly. I had the same problem & redid it & it was fine, or maybe there was a slight delay on the server. Dont know but it worked itself out

Ok, just to make sure you have the correct stuff in your .htaccess file, I've successfully accomplished what you are trying to do using this exact code in my htaccess:

No same results , what im trying to get done is have the index page redirected to the .com page so that i do not have 2 home pages .

Ill just leave it as is

www.recentpoker is equal to index.html and vice versa. you can redirect other pages like poker.html or holdem.html to your index file, but you can't redirect your homepage back to itself. The server is stuck in an endless loop because the server is continuosly redirecting index.html to index.html

Thats exactly whats happening , if i try to redirect the index.html version of the homepage to the .com version . i thought it was possible and thought it would help with pr , but as you say when i try to it gets caught in a loop.

All that you need to do is make sure that http://ww.DOMAIN.com and http://DOMAIN.com both lead to the same page.

If you have no index file, the server will either show a 401 Forbidden error, or show a directory listing (per server settings). If you do have an index file then it is called instead of the 401 or the directory listing.

What you're trying to do is repetitive - You should not even need ANYTHING in your HTAccess if your server is properly configured to make your site work as desired.
