Default Have changes applied to every page?

I think i've read something about this in a thread before but i can't find it so i apologize for the repetition.

I'm creating a site in frontage without a CMS and I'm going to want to be changing the content in the sidebar and footers, etc without going back to each individual page and changing it. There has got to be a more efficient way where i can make the change once and have it applied to all the pages. How do i go about doing this?

Default Use PHP

Edit: Didn't notice your use of front page. Don't know anything about that, so my suggestion may not work for you. But just in case, I'll leave it here anyway.

Do you have PHP available? It would be a very simple change from pure HTML to separate stuff like header, sidebar and footer to files of their own.

In the simplest case you would rename the .html fle to .php, take the piece of code that is the sidebar and put it in a file, say, sidebar.php and then in the files where you want the sidebar, instead of duplicating the HTML code each time, you'd write

<? include("sidebar.php"); ?>

You will find that even if it takes a bit (an hour at most) to learn, the updates will be so much easier that it's absolutely worth it.

Default Dynamic Web Template

Yea, i don't think it'll work but i appreciate the effort. I feel like the answer has something to do with dynamic web templates but i don't know anything about them so...

Like the other poster said, PHP is probably the easiest way of accomplishing this. It is really easy to do, and it should work on most hosted webservers. Check with your hosting company, it may actually work for you.

With FrontPage not really. You can do a sitewide "Find and Replace" as you want to change things then you have to re-upload all your pages. Worls pretty well though.

Search and replace is very easy. Depending on the size of the site, takes a minute or two.

Swipe the existing code into the search box. Write the new code, paste it into the replace box. Click replace, publish the site, done.

It's a good idea to make sure you make a copy of your front page folder first just in case you do anything totally stupid. If you do, you just delete the folder you were working on and use the copy and start over.

The way I do it is with the dynamic web template feature. Make the template you want, then save it as a .dwt. To add editable regions, right click and click manage editable regions. You can add in where you're going to add content. Then for each new page you just create a new page, then click format, dynamic web template, attach.

When you want to edit every page, you just edit the .dwt file and save it, and it'll change every page.
