This is what I do not understand....
Quantity is "important"...quality is "important"...to whom? or to what?
A lot of things can be "important"...but with regards to what, specifically?
Does Google somehow evaluate how useful and relevant the links you have are to to the subject matter of your pages??? How could they do that unless they had a human evaluating it? or is all done on ratio of common keywords or something?
Is there really some human who is going to say: "Well, this site only has three backlinks, but they are really relevant backlinks to the niche, even though they are not very highly ranked sites, and so we will give this site a higher ranking than site X which has twice as many links - but from sites with few commonalities."
How does it all work in reality?
Do human beings at Google or anywhere else actually evaluate each site on its contribution to the welfare of humanity, or whatever topic you have chosen as your niche? Or is it all mechanized and algorithm based?
