What factors to consider when buying links

[MilanFlyer]

I'm considering buying links.
I have found one website offering me link on PR5 page.

I have done some checking.
The page consist of 60 links.
50 links are internal links.
10 links are external.

I will get one of the 10 external.

What is a "normal" price for this link?
Price for one month?
Price for one year?
Price for life?

What other factors to consider?

Is the site relevant to your site?

You could get decent links for $10 - $50 a month. Are these links all gambling?

If it was a link farm pointing to viagra, college degrees, poker, and payday loans, you could definitely bargin with them. Especially a PR5

Moving to the SEO forum.

Is your goal to rank in all 3 engines, or just Yahoo and MSN?

Do you think the link will send you any traffic?

What kind of websites are linking to the website you're thinking about buying a link from? Are they authoritative and related too?

[MilanFlyer]

The main goal is to rank well in Google.
I don't think the link will send me any trafic.
According to Gooogle, the page has no external links to it, only internal links from the same domain. The top page of the domain has PR6.
The site is relevant (poker related).

Do a link check in Yahoo and MSN to get an idea of where the backlinks to the site are coming from. Google's backlink checker is broken.

If your goal is to rank in Google, paid links may or may not work. They're actively trying to ignore bought links, although some people question their ability to do so effectively.
