All the best SEO'ers here had to learn somewhere, so where did everyone learn how to be so good as SEO. I am willing to work and learn, but want to know where the best to learn in depth is

Read alot of books, Visit several SEO forums, and most importantly find an outstanding mentor that knows the ins and outs of SEO and can work with you.
Having a mentor is extremely important.

A good SEO mentor, especially in this industry, warrants a helluva lot more than a banner on a site somewhere.

Experience, practice & more practice. It's taken me a good 2-3 years and around 10 or so decent sites, to get to the level of knowledge I have now.

Nick is on the money... you can learn the basics at any SEO forum or listen to Randy & a few of the guys here.
Then its all practice & experimenting. You'll be hard pressed to find a good SEO guy that will give up their hard earned secrets
