We had a great time at this years Casino Affiliate Conference in Las Vegas. The show featured a lot of great speakers and many new contacts in the industry came out. CAC is always a great time for poker affiliates, managers and industry leaders to take a weekend to visit and share ideas and trends in this always changing business. PokerHeaven was very pleased to be in attendance and help contribute to the ever emerging new affiliate landscape. It’s shaping up to be an exciting year in the poker affiliate industry and we are here to make sure that you are provided the most up to date resources and current market demands.
Every year there is an ‘underline theme’ to the current market. Last year for example the key discussions were based on SEO (search engine optimization) and placement. With more and more websites being launched daily the competition there has heated up. No one is willing to share their traffic secrets and new sites often must wait months now to be ranked by Google and Yahoo.
This year the hype is being properly attributed to the ability of turning a limited amount of traffic into the maximum amount of profit. This concept is called ‘sticky’ and it’s really based on the idea that maximum conversion and return traffic is what determines a websites success; not just the amount the people that visit your site.
With that being said here are three key concepts to remember when evaluating your poker websites.
- Motivate visitors to spend time exploring your pages
- Persuade players to keep clicking from page to page
- Prompt visitors to return after their first landing
Tips for Existing Webmasters
Always fine-tune your site after launching it. The most common mistake, say many experts, is doing everything right in taking the site live; but then walking away from the considerable consumer information it can yield.
You should be checking into your server logs to monitor visitor and consumer behavior and traffic patterns. What site or search engine does which kind of customers come from? How long do they stay? On which pages? How do they move through the site? What products or information do which customer segments focus on?
Inexpensive, automated software such as Microsoft's FastCounter Pro can quickly analyze Web traffic and provide you with easy-to-understand reports. Once you get these reports, do something with them! Use the information to edit your pages, fix the navigation, change links, change content, and alter your search engine marketing to respond to customer needs.
Tips for New Webmasters
Make it easy for your visitors to find things. It is very important to design your pages in a way that visitors can quickly find what they are looking for. The overall looks of the site must be professional and build trust (not a hundred banners). However the main focus of your site should be persuading visitors to find the new sand offers you are featuring while not being pushy. A few unique stories and testimonials (Blog sites are great for this) will go a long ways in making your site appear honest and unbiased.
Bottom line: Give your visitors something to come back for. Update your pages often with new copy, even it’s your personal take or experience playing online poker!
