I want my index page to be more exciting

[smackinyaup]

Hi all, I've been doing a lot of thinking about my site and was wondering if anyone had any comments or suggestions regarding this topic.

My index page is so static..it looks the same every time you visit even if the "recent articles" sections changes. Changing the template and re-uploading the whole site is a pain in the ass anyways. Anyone know any easy includes for this type of thing?

I am thinking about just getting rid of the recent articles section entirely and placing a new articles type of section in the main body of the index page. Keep the site looking fresh and up-to-date. What do you all think?

I know you've put in a good bit of work getting your site how you want it, but my suggestion would be a CMS (Content Management System). Even though you still have to spend a lot of time tweaking the free templates available, you have a ton of options to add dynamic content such as, Most Popular Articles, Polls, News Feeds, Interactive Games, and more.

These are the ones I would suggest looking into.

• Joomla
• Drupal
• Wordpress

These free CMSs are getting more customizable every day. You can install extra modules, plug-ins, and/or widgets to make your site more engaging.

They also make creating new pages a snap.

Add a tournament feed, newsletter signup form, poll or a currency converter. That would spice up the page a little.
