Default Time to start posting all GOOD NEWS we find!

I am sick of reading all this BAD NEWS CRAP every day.

Until now I have taken everything with a grain of salt and examined all sides to every issue with both pessimism and optomism.

But it seems like every day...BAD NEWS, BAD NEWS.....I am now OFFICIALLY SICK OF IT!

So, let this be the thread for GOOD NEWS ONLY and comments about it.

So, let's start with this article I found:

I like this idea. I went looking for good news to make the first post. I found this article on pokerpages: link

Bill for Legal Online Poker Filed in WA State
A bill was submitted in the state of Washington last week to exclude internet gambling played from a person's home from being a felony. This also includes online poker.
Under the state's 2006 internet gambling law, any online gambling currently conducted in the state is a Class C Felony, which is the same penalty for possessing child pornography.
Washington State Rep. Chris Strow, R-Whidbey Island, introduced House Bill 1243 on Jan 15, 2007 to correct what he considers an inappropriate penalty for an activity responsible adults should be allowed to do in the privacy of their home.
"While I do see the need for protecting our citizens from online gaming that may be scamming innocent victims, I do think that there is also a level of accountability, as an adult, to do as he or she chooses in his or her own home," said Strow.

He added, "Most certainly choosing to gamble, or play a game of skill such as poker, should not have been made a crime equivalent to possessing child pornography or threatening the Governor."
Other sponsors of the bill include Representatives Kirby, Upthegrove, B. Sullivan, Simpson, and Appleton.
House Bill 1243 is currently awaiting a hearing in the House Commerce and Labor Committee.
Strow made a plea for state residents to call and write to the Chairman of the House Commerce and Labor Committee, Representative Steve Conway, to ask him to schedule a hearing for House Bill 1243.
Conway's contact details are: (360) 786-7906 or .

Same in California

One thing this bill allowed was for States to legalize online gambling for their residents.

This could be great. California has more people than Canada and poker here is insane.

Let's see what happens

I'll be in WI though...

problem with it being legal in States is are affiliates welcome.

The good news is though that the WTO exemption that the United States claims is on moral grounds. If places in the U.S. have it legal they certainly couldn't argue moral grounds.

Here was a post I had on P5's and if you think about it, was that their best punch.

the thread got more political than I meant because I don't distinguish between Dem's and Rep's in terms of personal freedoms. I think they both have a horrible record in this regard.

Yea it's like legalizing Marijuana. The States can say it's legal but any one doing it is violating a federal law and can still be arrested by the feds...

What a joke really

Like in Denver(county) ...they recently legalized possesion/use of up to an ounce for personal use. Problem is state law still makes it illegal...not sure how this is enforced...ie...city/county cop finds it, you are safe..state cop and you are busted : )

Regardless , getting poker legalized in individual states is a step in the right direction, it will help to snowball the "fight" and bring the issue to the forefront.

Not exactly sure what this means, but the WTO ruled against the USA today. Here is the article:
