Just got word from Neteller. If you want to register a new bank account and address, you'll need to provide them with a) utility bill from that address b) bank statement from that bank c) cell phone from within the country your address is in and d) you can't access a non-us neteller account from the US.

Good to know for all you guys thinking about a "non-us" bank account.

Neteller is the least of my worries, as far as considering an offshore account. To me, Neteller is completely gone and is not an option now or in the future. I'm thinking that it will become necessary to open an offshore account if I wish to continue getting my affiliate payments. Right now, I've switched to receiving checks through the mail, but how much longer can it possibly be before my bank says, "Sorry, we can't cash this because it's from an online gambling site." I know there's supposed to be an exemption for checks, but after watching so many companies hitting the panic button the past few weeks, I'm not taking any chances. I'm getting my ducks in a row now so I don't have to worry about not getting paid later on. I've found a bank in the Caymans that allows me to open an account by mail, has a low minimum deposit and will give me an ATM card so I can access my money with no worries. To me, that seems the safest bet for now.

The thing is, they can't say "we can't cash this cheque because it's from an online gambling site" for the simple fact that, even if they wanted to - it's near impossible to determine who the cheque is from.

I've had numerous cheques off of sites and they literally contain no mention of anything related to their company name let alone poker or gambling. The majority of the times it is a cheque from the senders bank, rather than from the sender themselves.

Maybe so, for now.

It wasn't too long ago that everyone was saying we wouldn't have a problem as long as we moved our money through Neteller, because Neteller wasn't a gambling site, per se.

As I understand it, checks in the U.S. ultimately clear through the Federal Reserve. Is it really all that difficult to imagine a point in time when the Federal Reserve starts flagging and returning checks from gaming sites? The checks themselves might not say anything about being derived from online gambling, but I'm sure these zealots will be doing their homework.
