I figured that would happen. What a lucky bastard that created it.

I'll have to admit that I agree with Mark Cuban on this one...

This has to be one of the dumbest business decisions I've ever seen on Google's part that is.

Not only did they acquire a less than 1 year old company that hasn't turned a profit, but they bought a company that is about to see some extreme financial troubles.

YouTube is almost completely filled with illegal, copyright protected content. Just like Napster, YouTube or now google's deep pockets are going to have to try and protect themselves against tens of thousands of lawsuits.

Hollywood and the music industry have already expressed their dissatisfaction with the current business model Youtube has. And it's not going to be long before they see a huge surge in copyright infringement lawsuits. Also their initial response that their not liable for what others upload to their site is a bunch of crap and will hurt them more in the longrun, especially considering they actually alter the video themselves by putting it into flash.

Now google obviously already knows this and still went ahead today, so unless they are in current talks with artists and movie and tv companies, they have a tough road ahead.

To read Mark Cubans take on this click here...

who knows what their plans are, maybe they plan to get the copyrights and then make it a pay service like napster is now?
i know at least one record company threw up their hands and granted permission to youtube. i think it was warner brothers who said that youtube videos could use their artists' music royalty free.

I believe this was to get on their good side for a possible acquisition.

It's not that simple since they still will have to deal with tens of thousands of copyright infringement lawsuits and now the pool of money to go after just got alot bigger.

Yep...agreed 100% Bryan. The fact that they have vids from just about every conceivable TV market in the world will not help the cause for Google's possible legal issues with this.
