Up till this summer Google was excellent at getting rid spam in the broad gambling areas, including poker. The .edu stuff is basically all generated by the same outfit, who also spams other stuff besides edu's.
The problem here though is removing an individual spam listings is basically pointless. They have tens of thousands of these things, so this is one case where Google has to get rid of it algorithmically. Unfortunately, the redirect part isn't the flaw, but rather that these pages rank at all. They put misplaced "trust" in the free domains. It's stupid, but its going to take awhile for them to stop being stupid.
In any case, people should report this shit via the web spam report and especially via sitemaps if you use them. The more examples they get, the better they will be able to deal with it, and of course the better they will truly understand the problem.
On the bright side they have done a lot to combat this, in a hacking at the branches kind of way. bloghof.net ranked in the top five for almost everything six weeks ago, but is mostly gone now.
