2 Questions I'd like to get some feedback on from the affiliate community on that I have been pondering lately.

1. What percentage of the player bonuses offered by poker sites is a fair amount for the affiliate to absorb?

2. If a player signs up a play money account but never deposits should there be a time frame when they expire from that affiliate and are (back on the market) For example if someone signed up at Party 4 years ago but has never played on the account and is now interested in playing there strictly because of one of my promos.

Answer #1 None. We are not offering these so to say coupons. If Mrs Enke goes grocery shopping at the grocery store the grocery store does not take the hit for the 50 cents the manufactur does.
So why should it not be the same with us?
Answer#2 Its my job to get them to the room correct.
After that they are in the rooms data system they recieve weekly emails, promos, etc so who's job is it for them to deposit?

I agree with gumba on #1 but #2 I think there should be a time limit due to the fact of a promo your running catches their attention and gets them to deposit

I don't mind absorbing a little bit. But it should be fairly small. If a player gets a $100 bonus...maybe $5. So 5%....just not charges for depositing! I have so many players at Full Tilt that deposit...realize they can't clear the bonus after 100 hands and withdrawal...I lose money on them! BS. We should be AWARDED for them depositing...not punished.

As for time frame 3-6 months. But....at that point if they have not deposited, their account should be closed...then they can become free game to open a new account.

I don't think there should be a "time" limit, I got them there, got them to download, open an account...their mine!
If their marketing has failed thus far, not my fault or problem.
I can easily see people playing for more than 6 months before depositing & moving up to real money games.

Getting nailed any fees or charges on CPA is BS!
On MGR its part of the deal, I don't mind taking the hit equal to my %

One thing has irked me in the past...
Is it Party that decides on occasion to just shoot some player $20 or $50 for the hell of it & deduct it?
I'd like to have a little say in that, especially if you're running a forum & have relationships with some of your players!

my 2 pesos

Fair is fair... we should be absorbing the same % of the bonuses given as we make of the rake collected. This is a partnership between the affiliate and the poker room, everything should be shared according to the % negotiated. Saying the poker room should absord 100% of the bonuses is as rediculous as the poker room saying the affiliate should absord 100%.

If a player has a play money account at a poker room, they should be able to create a new account at any time. If you convince a player to deposit at a poker room, have him or her sign up a new account under you, this should not be a problem. However, the idea that a play money player is no longer tracked to an affiliate after X days, and is instead property of the poker room should they deposit I don't agree with. If an account under you deposits (even 2 years later) you should be paid. However, "stealing" play money players from other affiliates and convincing them to deposit under you is fair game... they weren't making the other affiliate a cent anyways.

1. I agree with the same % percentage as we make in rake, but I dont agree with the % of chargebacks that we can get nailed with. To me a chargeback has nothing to do with getting a player to the poker room and getting them to play.

2. I definetly dont think that the idea of play money players being "legally" poached at any time would be fair. That would just lead to poaching wars and nobody would be out there trying to get new players. You would see 10-15 affiliates at each play money table trying to outbid each other to all the existing play money players. The hardest part is getting someone to download and create an account, which would already be done for all the poachers.

So, in other words, you are getting paid too much at the moment? Congratulations, you have just lowered your income by ~30%.

It would be fine if we absorb the bonuses but then get paid a greater revshare to compensate. Regardless of the structure, you need to look at your bottom line.

This questionnaire is market research for affiliate managers, fyi. :P

1. Whatever percentage you get from the cardroom. This should be a pure no brainer.

2. Whatever the terms of a player are, meaning many of the cardrooms have those silly "lifetime of the player" clauses so of course it should be lifetime then. Personally I'd say three years. A significant amount of play money players are underage, and they should convert when they become adults. Expiring them would make no sense at all. And of course no player tracked to one affiliate should under any circumstances be ever allowed to be poached by another affiliate.

Directly, No................indirectly yes. That is the beauty of this place. We as a community can anonymously and openly express our feelings to the "other side" of the industry and give them a better feel for what we as affiliates are looking for.

My thoughts are that if you are partnering with a room, which you are on an mgr plan, then yes you should absorb some of the bonus up to your mgr%. Most rooms curently charge us anywhere from our mgr% up to 100%.

I do not think the affiliate should be responsible for chargebacks however. This should be the responsibility of the poker site and the payment processor.

I am undecided on play money accounts.
