I just found this and wrote a news article on it

PokerStars.com Online Poker Blogger Championship

Do you guys think this is SEO related and a way to get hundreds of more backlinks and chatter in the blogs about PokerStars. If it is I would have to say great thinking on whoever is in charge of SEO for Stars.

Maybe because I am an affiliate I just read too much into this stuff.......What's your thoughts? Also anyone playing?

Well PokerStars already have damn solid SEO. Tonnnnsss of inbound links and a very clean, well structured site with lots of good content (unlike many other poker sites like party).

I think it was just to capture the attention of bloggers, after all, these guys have tons of readers who are all poker players, which is more money for them. Most blogs already link to stars anyway so I don't think it'd make that much difference.

They're trying to take out PokerRoom.com in the Search Engine Rankings. It would have been a little more effective had they used "Poker Stars" as their link text instead of "PokerStars". Still, it will be interesting to see if they pass PokerRoom in the next few months. Even if they don't, they'll still benefit from getting more exposure and more signups from the bloggers.

Unfortunetly my site is only brand new and I havent strated a BLOG. But imagine the exposure your site would get if you win... even if it is just for a short while.
Defantly worth a crack, hope you do well Jeremy!
