Hmm, the usual knock against pokerlistings is its lack of content. It's a link list which basically tells people about sites that have content. In contrast, pokernews.com is a content site with more stick/return users.
I think its interesting to observe how different types of sites manage to make a lot of money with completely different styles of operation. Pokerlistings for example has almost no branding or buzz among regular poker players (say in the Rio tournament room right now, despite them having a booth) while the big majority of people in that room would know what pokerpages is, but pokerpages would have much less presence on an affiliate marketing forum and much less deliberate tentacled marketing on the Internet itself. In other words, if you have been playing poker for awhile, you wouldn't need pokerlistings for anything but would turn to pokerpages fairly often, while if you where just wanting to get into poker, you would have many ways to find and make use of pokerlistings.
There is more than one way to skin a cat.
