Basically it seems although players in the UK are happy to sign up to rooms to play, they don't seem to want to deposit and play for real money.

How can we convince them that playing for real money is safe, has better quality poker and is much more fun? Any ideas anyone?

Affiliates shouldn't have to prove it is legal, this should down to a room as well, if they have a play money account, follow up emails should tell them how easy and legal it is to deposit.

I dont think you can convince someone that playing with real money is so much more fun or better quality etc...

I think making a point to show them payment processors that you reccommend are safe, secure etc.... Myself I wont use all of them. I only have accounts at paypal, moneybookers, neteller and ecocard and wont go with the other companies....so if a room doesnt have an option that I like or prefer I dont play at all.

yeah, you're right the rooms themselves should be picking up the slack in this area - but on the most part they seem to pass this issue and go on about their current promotions.

Maybe if the rooms gave us email access to our players (through them and content vetted by them - so we don't actually have access to the addresses) we could follow up ourselves. I'm dreaming there though I think - could be chaos, very quickly, lol.

The thing about UK players is that they don't have any trouble depositing, you can use credit cards / debit cards easily. They also don't have any worries about it being illegal - it's everywhere, on telly, billboards, magazines.

Coming from a marketing background, I see it as a marketing issue - we need to convince them to deposit - but how?

Just thinking Notspot

Do UK players tend to prefer a UK room over say FT or Stars? If so is there any particular reason why

One of the largest UK gambling brands, Ladbrokes, even allows deposits via there stores i believe.

You've prob hit the nail on the head there. Playing in dollars is ok for us who've done it for a while but not everyone knows the exchange rate and you do get hit with exchange variance and it is, well, foreign.

I'm gonna set up some sort of test - lots of the UK rooms promote bonuses in £'s and you can play in £'s too. Hmmm.

Yes you got one point. I am working on something like that now making it visable what room offers what currency and allows for exchanges immediatly if need be...but also why not try and find areas pf strength in the rooms that may make it more enticing. For example FT and PS appeal because of the games not to mention the seats to huge events....Obviously there is a reason that a UK player would prefer to play on a UK network vs a so called "American" try to build on that
